How often is your baby waking up at night?

my son since we brought him home from the hospital until he was 3 month ate every 2 hours no matter what, now he's 5 months and is going to bed between 8 & 9 pm and will wake up between 5 & 6 am now. then he goes back to sleep for 3 more hours and is up most of the day and takes 2 half hour to one hour naps every day.

Wow you guys are luuuucckkkky with the nappin let me tell ya! LOL, Xiana wakes up at 6:30am everyday and she can only be up for an hour and a half tops before the wheels fall off and she gets REAL cranky. So i put her down for a nap but she only sleeps for 35/40 min at the most before shes up again and then after an hour and a half the cycle just repeats alllllll daaay! she has never once had a 2 hour nap unless i hold and rock her the entire time. And she can only take about 4 & 1/2 oz each feeding (shes 21 weeks) so when i hear that other babies are taking 6 to 8 im like hmmm "is my daughter normal"? LOL.....she goes to bed without a problem @ 7 but then she up @ 11/11:30 for 4oz, goes right back to sleep no problem, up again around 3 for 4oz, goes right back to sleep no problem, then shes up for the day @ 6:30 (she'll be up @ 5:30 tomorrow thou since we have to turn the clocks back! YIKES!)

Caroline wakes once or twice a night. Except the last two night she has been waking more i believe because of her teething.

Corinne, Isaac has a hard time with cereal. He can eat only a very small, watery amount before it upsets his tummy. I've tried supplementing with formula, too, but he refuses it - he would rather go hungry. It's getting worse and worse here, and I just don't know what to do.



Thanks, Flora. I think Isaac has a pretty good routine, too, at least during the day. He takes a 30min nap about 2 hours after he wakes up, a longer nap after lunch (although he has been struggling with that nap for the past few weeks) and another 30min nap at supper time. He goes down for the night well, but has not slept for even 2 hours in about two weeks. By about 2 or 3 in the morning, he's waking every hour or less.



I've tried giving him water, but he screams like a banshee. I've tried just rocking him, same thing. I've tried leaving him to cry for a few minutes, no luck. He has a soother, but refuses to take it. I am so tired... And he is, too.

My 4 month, 18 pound baby has been sleeping 7pm - 7am since he was 10 weeks old. I attribute his good sleeping habits to The Miracle Blanket (I've been swaddling him in it since I brought him home from hospital) and to a consistent nap and meal schedule. He eats every 3 hours during the day,6-8oz of breast milk, a 1hr morning nap, a 30min 11am nap (which he'll outgrow soon) and a 3 hour afternoon nap. I don't let him sleep past 4pm. I bathe him every night at 6pm, swaddle him and play nurse him to sleep. He still sleeps in our bedroom, so if he wakes up because he's either cold or hot, I just ensure he's comfortable, I give him his pacifier and I play him a lullaby (from a music box he got at a baby shower) that he now associates with sleep. I play him this lullaby at every map time as well. I hope this info helps :)

my first baby was up every 2-3 hours EVERY night and once she was on rice it was about every 4-5 hours! She was a horrible sleeper until she was almost 2 bc around 1.5 years old she refused to take afternoon naps and thats around when she finally started sleeping through the night! It was very common for me to have to get up anywhere from 2-6 or 7 times every night!!



This baby is pretty steady with sleeping around 9:30-10:30 pm and wakes up around 3 am (most nights) then again around 5:30 then up around 7:30 or 8! if i give her a lot of rice before bed then she wont wake up at the 3 am mark but will at the 5:30 and 7:30-8 times.

Thank you both for your comments. I'm sorry you're also having sleeping problems, but at the same time I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Isaac is getting progressively worse. He's now waking up at least 5 times a night, and not sleeping more than 3 hours in a stretch - In fact, I feel lucky when he does sleep 3 hours! Hopefully it will pass,,,

My son was doing really good until a couple of weeks ago. He was going down at 7pm and waking up at about 1am and then 3am to eat. Recently he has decided to get up every hour or two. It's been the worst he's been about sleeping since he's been born. He actually set a new record Monday night by getting up 11 times in a 10 hour period. The last two nights it was better again, only getting up 2 times so hopefully this little phase has passed.

My baby usually goes to bed around 7pm and 8pm and she wakes up between 2am and 3am and then again between 6am and 7am...but sometimes she wakes up more than that...she hasn't gotten consistent in her eating and sleeping habits. She hardly every sleeps during the day, if she takes a nap...it is for maybe 30 minutes...not sure if that is normal or not? She is my first so I am just sort of wingin it! :P
