What was your experience with dlating and effacing?

Hello All,
This is my 3rd pregnancy, and the first time I made it to 38 weeks-my other two were born at 37 weeks. I have had very irregular contractions and cramping so I had my midwife check me on Tuesday and I was dilated to one, my cervix soft but not effaced. Today is Friday and she checked me again and I am now to 2 cm and 50% effaced. Anyone else had similar experiences and am I foolish to celebrate that much change? What are the chances of having this baby within days?

I had the same thing. soft cervix, only dilated 1. I gave birth 39 wks 2 dys.

With my son...I was 2 / 3cm for weeks before i had him.
