my son is not on a strict schedule whatsoever! He usually goes to sleep for the night around 9pm and thats about all i can count on. Sometimes (the past week) he is up every two hours, until 8am. Other nights he sleeps for seven hours straight and takes two two hour naps! Im going crazy with no sleep, any suggestions??

I could cry reading this, as I'm in the same boat and I just need relief! My baby slept 8 hours through the night starting at 2 weeks old! Since he turned 5 months and we came back from a vacation, he is up all night some nights, sleeps through other nights, and NEVER naps. When he wakes in the middle of the night I can't do anything to get him back down. He is wide awake, sometime for 2 hours.

And his naps have never been longer than 30 mins, unless he's being held. I'm at the end of my rope and I've tried all the basics -- great bedtime routine, dark room, white noise, etc etc.

My 5 1/2 month old still wakes up about 3 times to be nursed at night. I'm thinking about doing some cereal before bed to see if that satisfies him and makes him sleep longer. His daytime naps are fairly routine but if we have to be out for the day he gets really frustrated. His crib is his favorite place to nap

Hi! My 5 and a half month old was sleeping really well between about 4 months to 5 months but the last 2 weeks she's really gone downhill. She used to sleep 6.5 hours followed by 3 hours plus variable daytime naps, so I was only up once or maybe twice a night. Now she has me up about 4 times a night! I don't know what has happened as she puts herself to sleep at 9 pm every night with little to no fussing but she wakes at 12:30ish and won't go back to sleep unless I bring her into my bed! Not good as I'm a terrible co-sleeper. I've made our bed as safe as possible following all the guidelines but I sleep terribly with a baby in the bed. I think it might be related to her starting to roll over?? She's working pretty hard on getting mobile during the day.

Hey Erin, have tried bathing him the same time every nite? Had the same problem with my 5 month old but after feeding him, I bath him then read a story or sing to him and that has worked very well for me.
