My baby was very fussy and it turned out to be reflux.

Does your baby vomit a lot?

Does he appear to 'cat nap'?

Does he scream if you lay him down?

If he does these things, go to the doc and get the reflux confirmed. (or just do what I did and express your milk and thicken it).

Listen to what sound your baby makes when he's fussing. Have you heard of Dunstan's baby language?

If he's saying 'eh' a lot, he needs to burp. If he's saying 'air' he has lower wind pain (collic). If he's saying 'heh' he's uncomfortable and either needs a nappy change, is to hot/cold or needs a position change. etc

'neh' is hungry

For a bit of tummy pain, i've found a small amount of cooled/ warm boiled water helps settle it a bit.

also, if you notice he is is fussy you can lay him on his belly and that reliefs colic as well

my baby is 1 month old and he hasnt ever been fussy at all except for 3 times and not for long..first of all check his diaper, if its a wet or dirty diaper change it then try feeding him, if he is too fussy and does not want to drink his formula he might have gas if he doesnt burb constantly so fold his knees towards his chest for a few seconds and do bicycle pedaling exercises so he can start passing gas. If that doesnt work give him some gripe water, that works good it reliefs the symptoms of colic and gas etc. if hes having colic then give him an ounce of chamomile tea..that will calm his colic down, I usually also give the gripe water at the same time...but thats it. Hope this helps

try to get him to burp after each feed. i find that my daughter fusses when she needs to burp so i take her off and try to get her to burp before feeding her again. also he could be uncomforatble, maybe a wet nappy or just too tired to feed or has tummy pains.
