20 with a four month old baby girl and I love it! Wouldn't have it any other way! We didn't plan her... we were going to wait a year or two after we got married, but she turned out to be a honeymoon baby ;) and I am glad we didn't wait, because like you said, When she is 20, we will still be young enough to travel and party! :)

I, too, felt like you did Kayla!! I am almost 35 and had my first son when I was 18. There are so many advantages to having kids young but I have found many for having them later in life as well. My oldest 3 are 16, 15, and 12. I had so much energy back when they were little, to run and play with them as long as they wanted, without tiring. We have basically grown up together! (I think they have taught me as much as I have taught them.) It also helps me to relate to them as teenagers and be a little more understanding I think.

I also looked forward to the future and thought, "how great that all my kids will be grown by time I'm 40?!? I'll still be young enough to have fun and enjoy my remaining "youth" once I have raised them to be responsible, productive adults in our society." And then I went through a divorce after being married to their father for almost 13 years.(together for 16)

Life changed and God had other plans for me...

I met an amazing man and together we have a beautiful, energetic, happy little boy! He will be 2 in less than a week. His older siblings adore him!! It has been quite a challenge with a toddler in the house now after getting use to self sufficient teenagers. The energy I once had in my own youth has begun to dwindle away and it is definitely more of a challenge to keep up with one than I remember it being with 3, all under the age of 5!! I also struggled more this time around with not getting the sleep I was use to when my son was a newborn. (I didn't remember it being so hard!) Everything else has fallen into place. Being older and more "established" if you will, has also allowed me to have more to offer my son financially at this age in comparison to my older children. That has been a wonderful feeling as well.

I have learned a lot about myself aIso. I have so much more patience now then I did when my older 3 were little. I've become more relaxed over the years and realized my house doesn't always have to be "perfect", it's okay if not all the laundry is done, etc. I've also come to appreciate all 4 of my children even more than I did before. And all the "trial and errors" on raising my older 3 has definitely taught me what does and does not work when it comes to raising kids!!

So yes, being a "young mom" has it's perks but so does having one later in life!!

Continue enjoying motherhood and God bless!!

I'm glad a found a group of people that I can relate to. I also wanted to have a family young. I didn't want to wait until my 30's or 40's. I want to enjoy my kids while I'm young and have the energy to keep up with them.

We plan on trying to get pregnant sometime next year. If all goes as planned, we'll have another baby around my daughter's third birthday.

Im 20 turned 20 the first of april! I have 2 children who are 18 months apart. My oldest daugther will be 2 in june and my younest is 5 months! I also believe that being a young mom is wonderful but its def not for everyone as i have ex-friend with children who are not leading a very good life! My husband is 22. Being a young mom tends to run in my family my grandmother was 17 when she married and had her oldest child, my mother was 17 when she married and had my oldest sister, my sister had her first child at 17 and got married when she was 19 they now have 2 children and she is 22! And as for me, i got married only a week after i turned 18, graduated from highschool, and had my most wonderful first child a month later I love the life i live and deffinatley would not have it any different! :)

Casey - Don't worry abt the age difference. Myy husband is 11 yrs older than me. My family wasn't thrilled at first, but he is the best thing that ever happend to me.

To all the single moms - Ur main focus should be ur baby (babies). They will be with you no mattter what. No matter who comes and goes. They will love you unconditionally. I had my daughter before I met my husband and it was very hard. I turned 18 just after she was born. Trying to do school and taking care of her and working full time, cause the sperm donnor was a looser. Be proud you can provide for you baby being young. All these older mothers think we r horrible and judge us because of age. They have no right! Most of them probably couldn't handle being young mothers. It take a special person. Of course, when u see what you have created for the first time, it makes you a special person.

Good luck to all of you!

lol yeah that would be the life....are you working right now?
I worked while i was pregnant to make sure that i got my mat leave.....and i had fun doing it! I was a cashier at a fruit and veg stand so it was pretty easy work...and when my feet got tired i was the only one aloud to sit on the stool...lol!!
You should invest in the book "your pregnancy week by week" It helped me throughout my pregnancy and lets you know whats going on with your baby!!
Congratulations by the way....just wait till you feel him/her kick for the first time...i cried when i felt the first flutter of movement...tears of joy of course!! :)
