new diagnosis?

hi my daughta was diagnosed adhd an put on various treatments including strattara.

We have had an absolute rollercoster ride for many years.

we hav now had diagnosis of bipolar 6yrs later when a new consultant took position.

she too has anger outbursts & i hav bin attacked an injured. resperidone has been the most successful so far for us.

also it seems 2 hav helped wif sleep pattern

After 4 years of trying to find the right OCD or ADD meds. I read that book "The Bipolar Child". It made everything clear. Now my 10 year old is being medicated for the right reasons.

It is really hard to tell because kids are so different. My daughter can't pay attention to anything longer than 20 seconds, has violent outbursts, horrible language, and mood swings that change as often as every five minutes or so. She is on risperdal .25 mg in the am and .5 in the pm. I would just continue to monitor his behavior, do some research on bipolar\ mood instability and on the medications. Every kid is different. My daughter also has sensory processing disorder which makes the bipolar worse. My suggestion is to talk with his doctors, ask any and all questions you have and it truly is one day at a time..

thanks for the response...I have done alot of reseach online and found the info from the website very helpful...my sons father was told he had a chemical imbalance a few years ago after being hospitalized for 5150(danger to self and others). he never went back for treatment after to get a through eval but does show signs of bipolar such as depression anger outburst and paranoia. (we r not together) the respiridone seems to be working no big anger outburst or rapid mood swings..so i am taking one day at a time for now

web md is very helpful/ but to know if a child is truly bipolar, they need to have very serve sudden mood changes... cry to happy to angry. I have been watching my child forthis signs beacuse it is genetically passed on through the blood line. bipolar really is not that bad if you treat it and understand it will never go way

I read a book to help me understand about Bi-Polar Issues in my daughter .. it's a very hard diagnosis to accept, but once you take the first step and get them on the right dosages things change and they calm down. TALK to your doctor ask them questions .. get angry .. read what you can on it. I did all of this I have a better understanding but I do still question things.
