Hello, moms!
On September 19, there's going to be a panel focused on motherhood and entrepreneurship. These mothers are proof that you can balance family and managing a business. Information on the event is below!
Bossy Mama: Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
September 19, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30pm
The Women's Building of San Francisco
3543 18th Street
San Francisco, CA 94110
Cost: FREE
As part of our Successful Women in Business Series, the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center will host a panel on September 19th at the Women's Building (3543 18th Street) from 6:30-8:30pm to address both the difficulties and rewards of balancing the demands of motherhood with being an entrepreneur.
This event is inspired by the recent Atlantic article written by Ann-Marie Slaughter, a Princeton professor and former Director of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State, titled "Why Women Still Can't Have It All." In this article, she writes about how she was forced to leave her high-profile job in Washington to spend more time with her family. She goes on to explain that the only way to "have it all" is to make your own schedule - aka be your own boss! This article has since gone viral and sparked a series of discussions across the country - through this panel, we are hoping to bring the discussion into our very own San Francisco.
Panelists will introduce themselves and their businesses and talk about the challenges they faced starting their own business while managing the day to day tasks of motherhood.
Our panelists:
Deundra Hundon of Universal Martial Arts Academy
Simonida Cvejic of Bay Area Medical Academy
Melinda Phillips-Zumski of Zumifi Inc
Tina Salibello of Velvet and Tweed
moderated by Antoinette Sanchez of Endless Summer Sweets
