My 8 year old son swears when he is really angry with his older brother.

He is frustrated and feels powerless to defend himself any other way. He needs to figure out a way to communicate with both his brother and you about how he is feeling without cursing. Give him a place of privacy, where his brother is not allowed to enter. This is a great time to show the 8 yr old some respect and to be a parenting role model for the 21 yr old.

The older brother is nearing 21 and lives here with his 1 year old daughter. Shawn also has one sister, aged 19, but she isn't here much.

No cell phone and no allowance at this point. He does have toys and games and loves to play on the computer.

I don't think my older son finds any enjoyment out of Shawn's swearing - I think it is more along the lines of dis-belief that he would say it (which is the F word). He will say, "F you" or I F*ing hate you" to him and only him.

I have heard him say it. The odd thing is that it is usually when my older boy tries to play with Shawn. My daughter's boyfriend will come and wrestle around in the same manner with him, but he only gets mad at his brother.

Shawn has never had any behavioral problems in school. This is only at home. Any suggestions are appreciated.
