why is this question on empty nest community surely it would have been better on another one but as we are here now. i still sterelise lunch boxes and my household are all adlts. i do this purely to get rid of the smell becuae none of them wash them right and the white lids come up looking good afterwards. how people handle their kids bottles etc is a personal choise thing really. the plastic liner bottles i only used for day trips and outings because they were disposable and i didnt have to carry round the milky smell all day from the empty ones. kids are resilient as everyone says but even some bugs can get in there and cause tummy upsets.

Sterilizing went out 20 years ago. The dishwasher gets everything clean and sanitized just fine. Babies are very resilient and stronger than you think. I washed baby bottles by hand and never sterilized anything and my children are all grown with their own children. Everyone is very healthy.

The plastic insert is made especially for the bottles that come with the kit.
If you are referring to glass baby bottles, I would say....Sterilize the bottle for sure...before putting anything in it, whether it's a plastic liner or formula.
Hope this helps.
