Really needing some help dealing with daughters encopresis and UTI's

My daughter just turned 5 last month and was dignosed with encopresis 1 1/2 years ago. I knew right away her soiling wasn't "normal accidents", thankfully we got her diagnosis quickly and started a plan of action- Lax-a-day. Which has helped a small amount, very small amount. One of the other big issues we face with her encopresis is that when she would soil herself, she would then get a Urinary Tract Infection to go along with it. So after about 30+uti's she is now on a daily dose of antibiotics AND lax-a-day. None of this just seems to make sense. Her father and I separated before she was born so she has no recollection of us being together, and he and I go to Family Counselling to help our "communication", which most of these "doctors" are now saying will "fix" the encopresis. We have also been to an encopresis specialist. I am tired of "pumping" my child full of medicine and laxatives in hopes that this will solve these issues-which her dad refused in the beginning, but now is all for and not up to trying natural remedies. Has anyone heard of or tried Reflexology to help the encopresis?

My daughter is 8 1/2 and has had encopresis for as long as I can remember, Dx only came when she was 6. I feel like a failure as a parent. I have MS and feel like my own health problems have always come first, preventing me from getting her the correct help. Our family Dr put her on Miralax daily and suggested some diet changes ( more fruit, apples daily, prunes) which we did implement and she got a little better. But she is with her Dad every wknd and so the diet changes aren't exactly steady. We recently started giving her kale/spinach smoothies daily packed w/ more fruit. I like the Gluten free idea I want to try that! She recently got a lot worse and our Dr just told me there is a Encopresis treatment center near us! - Why didnt I know this sooner!? Again, feeling like a failure! Hoping to get her in there to be seen soon and that gives me hope! I want to help my daughter, this is so frustrating for her and us, I hope for healing for all your kids and you soon! xo

Lucy,
The medication is miralax. But the doctor needs to prescribe the dose (very important), time of day and how to organize everything to successfully conquere encopresis. It Can be done....really!
You need professional help....but not just anyone. Is your child normal developmentally?
If she is, Doctordaum can help you in about a week.
Call him and see: You have nothing to lose...there is no charge to talk to him.
doctordaum.com I really think he can help you.

My daughter is 7 yrs old with Encoropresis, with all the same symthoms. She has been having uti/kidney infections for 4 yrs now, taking a laxitin and antibotic daily. She has been going to 4 differnt specialitites Doctors for yrs now and NO emprovement. Im beyond stressed over it. Hate as well pumping my child with all these medicines. She is actualy getting a test done next week called Anorecial manometry which they go in thru the Anus to check her spine. Ughhhhhh ! Hoping for ANSWERS:(

My daughter suffered from Encopresis for 4 years before I finally said enough of giving her laxatives over and over again, which only mask the problem, not solve the root cause. I began giving her probiotics and reducing her gluten intake and my daughter is encopresis free now for 6 months.

Doctors don't always know the right answers, believe it or not. I went outside the box in my thinking and my daughter is living an "accident free" life now. Psycologically she is 100% better and she is so happy.

I started a blog/support group for other parents of children with encopresis:
http://www.momsguidetoencopresis.com/ and I hope you will read about our journey. I'm not selling anything, I'm just trying to help other moms. Good luck to you and your daughter!!

Regards,
Stephanie

Hello Stephanie,
Sounds like you have tried so hard to help your daughter. And I am sure you have heard this before, but she needs the CORRECT dose of laxatives - prescribed by an experienced encopresis specialist. Doctor Daum is a pediatric gastroenterologist with 45 years experience. He really know how to fix problems like your daughter is having. He treats patients over the telephone....is available every day to adjust the medication and the behavioral interventions. He is willing to talk to you over the phone for the first time at no charge - to see if he is right for you. I really think he can help you and I'm sure that you would just like to break down and cry at this point. Reflexology is wonderful..I love it,..but it is not a cure for encopresis. Please take a look at www.doctordaum.com
