My 19 month old has started having absence seizures, or that is what her pediatrician said. We are waiting on an appointment with a pediatric neurologist. I am very scared. This all started about a month ago when she (Haley) ran a 106 temp for no apparent reason, we took her to the E.R and the Pediatrician and the only answer we were given was a "virus". Then next night, I went in to check on her and I couldn't get her to respond to me. I would say "Haley" and clap my hands and poke her in the shoulder, but she would only respond after she came out of her "daydream." This continued for 30 minutes. We jumped in the car and took her to the Children's Hospital which is about an hour away. We got there and they told us she did not need to be seen, that she had no fever and she was fine. So we went home without any answers. Then a few days ago, her Physical Therapist saw her having another seizure and started to question me about it. She told me to take her to he doctor now. So we did, she had a seizure infront of the pediatrician and now we are just waiting for the neurology appointment and an E.E.G. I am just nervous about all of this. Can someone give me a heads up on what will happen at the neurology appt? Haley is a 19 month old, she also has a twin sister who does not have seizures. Haley has multiple health problems: kidney reflux, heart murmur, and now absence seizures.
