I just wanted to say that today is my daughters 4th birthday . She has erbs palsy on her right arm . You can see her in the group photo wearing a sleeping harness . That harness was such a blessing for her . About 2 months after being born she was fitted with this device to rotate her hand from outward facing to normal postion and correct the tendons in her arm . It took about 1 year of wearing it and daily physio (taught to me by her doctors) but her arm changed drastically . From barely any movement to being able to raise her arm above her head , bear weight , grab , and eventually climb . If you saw her today you wouldn't see much difference between arms . She still carries a bit of weakness and cannot fully reach behind herself yet but with time this too will improve .

I thank BC Childrens hospital for letting my daughter help others by becoming one of the first infants to be in their erbs palsy sleeping harness program.

I write this to give people hope for their little ones .Never stop asking question . With knowledge come power , hope and healing .

My daughter was born 9 weeks premmie, weighed 3 pounds & 11 ounces, she had many challenges. She was not able to walk un-assisted, she needed support to sit up, drooled constantly, developmentally delayed, frequent body tremors, some seizure like episodes, kind of in a daze all the time, clenched left hand, choking on her food, speach problems, left side weakness etc. She was elevated on her toes when holding her to walk, she was splinted for a leg brace & they wanted to give her botox, but after researching botox and discovering how it’s made and there were no long term studies I decided against it. Her life was restricted & so was mine ...and it looked this way for the rest of her life ... & mine. I felt hopeless.

We were attending all sorts of treatments and therapies which cost a lot. A friend told me about some special wellness supplements from a particular company, she started taking them in her yogurt, after one week she was up walking un-assisted, it made an immense difference to her brain function, memory, balance, mood & cognition in a short space of time. I was elated!

I am so grateful to the person that told me about this incredible technology. She now has a life now ….. and so do I. It’s now over 14 yrs later and she continues to take these special nutrients, she has attended normal public schools, she is almost 16, in a few weeks she begins driving lessons and has just started an after school casual job in a fast paced food takeaway.

I so wish this info was available 36 yrs ago :) Sadly, my mom just did some at-home exercises til I was about 5, but that was it. I think my arm would be way less noticable if there was some kind of brace that I would have worn as a child. I workout 3x a week and I know that helps a little w/ movement, but it still gets stiffer as the yrs go on. God bless your little one and the drs who were able to help her!

BC Children's Hospital? Where is that? My daughter has had 3 surgeries for her brachia plexus injury. I am happy the sleep harness worked.
