Are there any expat moms out there who are homeschooling their kids? I am thinking about it for next year, when my little guy would be 1st grade. The international schools here are insanely expensive and local schools, while good academically, are not an option. My son is refusing in learning the local language.
If you are homeschooling, how are you going about it? What resources are you using? How is it working out?

Anne,
The website is http://www.abeka.com/ They are strong in Bible. We have brought the books with us, or have had visitors bring them for us. But, they can ship overseas as well. There are other homeschooling options as well, many of my friends use SonLight, another Christian curriculum that is highly literature based. HI Leah, our son is Sept. born, so he didn't have to start school last year. We opted to hold him back and have him go to preschool an extra year in the hopes to be returning to the US this summer.

If this does not happen, then I will have no choice but to homeschool. Please tell me more about A Beka. Is there website? How much is it, how religious is it, how is their support, etc.

Our daughter is going to the German International School (Deutsche Schule) here and loves it there. It's half price of the English speaking international schools, but still too much for 2 kids.

HI, this is an old post, are you still considering homeschooling or have you started? I homeschool overseas, we are American, living in Tanzania. We're in the same boat, the international schools are really expensive and local schools aren't an option. We use A Beka, a Christian curriculum. I have three kids, and school the older two.
