How to Prepare Puppies for a Baby?

I am living with my mom for the first 6 months of my daughters life while we wait for her daddy to get out of school. My mom has two "winer" dogs and the male, Max, doesnt seem to take well to babies and little kids. My sister had her friends baby here (she's a little over a year) and everytime she would move or make a sound Max would go crazy barking and growling at her. I am just wondering if there is a way to ease him into the arrival of Lexa. He spends most of his day laying on my lap, head on my belly so I sometimes get the feeling he is already protecting her, but he could just find the position comfortable..lol any and all suggestions, experiences are welcome :)

Never scold the dogs if they want to sniff or take interest in the baby. Making them scared of him/her will only lead to jealousy. Reward them for gentle behavior around the baby and soon they'll be your child's biggest and best protector.

when we had our daughter we had two dogs one beagle/boxer and a poodle/terrior....the poodle/terrior could care less about anyone and the other dog lily she slept with us soooo the drs adviced us to take a recieving blanket or towel to hospital with us have the nurses wrap our daughter in it and then sent it home with the inl laws for the dogs to smell and lay on. that way they new her smell before she can home. :) good luck
