Im an Aussie mum and I live in a little town called Kandos. I have the same problem with isolation from friends and family and any form of civilisation. My partner also works 5 days a week and is on call 24/7. I love my little man but its just not the same.

I'm a mum to 6 month old Anabelle we live CANBERRA, to be honest i find mum and bubs play groups rather intimidating i get sick of the "My babies better than yours" type persona. So i don't bother, plus i get sick of the way people discriminating me because i MAY LOOK young. But we go swimming once a week and Anabelle loves it which is the main thing. Hope i don't come across in a bad way.

Aussie mummy, using nappies not diapers lol!!! I am in Melbourne so way down the other end. Miriella is celebrating 6mths today!!! already pregnant with my 4th. Yes I know, no need to gasp so loudly!!!

My oldest 2 are 13 and 6 so they are my little (not so little) helper boys. I love them all to pieces and wouldn't change a thing. I really wanted to find a playgroup in Melbourne, but there is non on the days I don't work. But soon I will be on Mat leave again so woo hoo!!!! I love working for the government, mat leave is so generous

I've been searching and there's already 26 Aussie Mum groups...who knew?! If you go into "My Communities" you can search "Aussie" and they'll come up. Happy 1/2 birthday! :)

an aussie mum's group would be great!!! kayley and i (ok, maybe just me!!) celebrated her 'happy half birthday' yesterday!! i can't believe she's 6 months old!! from a little girl who just lay there doing nothing, to a big girl making her way around the living room exploring all the things that mum has been silly enough to leave out :) loving every minute of it :)

I'm in Melbourne with a 6 month old little boy. No teeth yet but lots of chewing! My mother's group gets together each week for baby play at the pool and a walk around the local lake. We also get together at each others homes every couple of weeks. If you can get a few people together and organise something like that, it really helps with the loneliness. Maybe we should start an "Aussie Mums" group - might give us some more relevant responses! I'll see if I can figure it out. :)

Hey fellow Aussies,

I'm from the Blue Mountains NSW and its so nice to see some Aussies on here. I've got a 3 year old Girl (Lylah) and a 6 month old girl (Ebony) and completely understand the isolation your feeling. I'm 25 years old and all my friends live in Sydney and work full time - different stages of life and I'm struggling to find friends close to me whom I share things in common with.. being a younger mum and all. Would love to chat to anyone who's close by ;)

i too am from qld but im from curra past gympie my second son was born 29th october and i too am isolated as i don't drive i cannot even go to a play group which is unfortunate as my eldest is 4 turning 5 and he needs to socialise too anyway if anyone wants too chat it would be great

Hi I am in Nagambie in Victoria with bub number one fast approaching 6 months (on the 6th). We go to play group every week and mum's group (was initially organised by our health nurse) once a week. I am also in the ABA (Australian Breastfeeding Association) so I go to their meetings once a month. I don't cope well with my own company for too long so joining groups and chatting online when bubs is sleeping are great.

Hi all you Aussie MUMS! I'm in central NSW with bub no 3 who was born on 6 October. Good to know my bubs not the only one without teeth, she's been teething since about two months old and they've come up and down ever since without actually breaking the gum. This happened with my eldest too, maybe it'd a girl thing :)
Hey Sarah, good on you for putting yourself out there with playgroups and all that. I know how hard I found it when I had my 1st. I lived in the same town as all of my sisters but I could have been on another planet for all the good it did.

i'm in caboolture...not exactly brisbane :) teeth 5 and 6 are ready to come any day now. i can see the white under the gum, she's got the same rash she had with the other 4 and is just not herself. i'm half expecting to wake up tomorrow and see them thru! her eye teeth dont' look far away either!! teh last few days she looks like she's getting ready to crawl. knees getting up under her tummy, which is fully off the ground! excited about the crawling, 'cos it's a bit milestone, but also know it's giogn to be a lot more hard work!!!

Good to see that are quite a few Aussies on here. I'm in Adelaide, SA. My 2nd bubs was born on the 30th Oct, 09. She has no teeth thru yet but is definatly showing signs of teething. My 1st bub (also a girl) got her first tooth at 10 months.
Playgroups are great not only for the child but for the parent also.
Anyone out there live in the northern suburbs? Would love to meet some new faces.

Thats crazy that your lilttle one has 4 teeth already. My bub has been teething for ever, and the other day the doc discovered that his molars have nearly come through lol - trust me to have the baby that teeths his molars 1st.

I am in Aussie Perth tho. But know exactly what you been about feeling isolated. I live 40 mins from family and friends and my little one does not like the car so find it very difficult on those journeys.

Hi Sarah....I'm another Aussie mum with a little boy born October 13. I am a Queenslander but am an hour or so away from you in Toowoomba. I also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I thought this would mean I would know everything but they are such different babies! Bennett has no teeth yet, but I think they are not too far away. He rolls over heaps, trying to sit up but like your little one leans forward a lot so doesn't really count. I had to stop breastfeeding early too but he loves his bottles and is doing much better so I don't mind. Hope all is going well with your little one...and everyone else! ;)

hey! i *really* struggled iwth BFing, and decided to stop at 6 weeks. i struggled with the decision also, so i was pretty happy when at 3.5 months she got 2 teeth :) i saw a child health nurse today adn she's telling me she's got another 2 that will be through 'within in the week'!! i can't believe after the first 2 i thought i kinda knew what the deal was with teeth!! HA i have no clue!!

there are great playgroups here in brisbane, and i go to a group of soem description 3 days a week now, but at the time i started the post, i wasn't giong to any! they all propped up at the saem time!! and it's always good to talk to other people from around here. the more ther merrier i say!

i'm taking kayley swimming tomorrow and am VERY excited about it!!! probably won't book her in for lessons until the summer...

Hi Sarah, I'm in Northern NSW (Lismore), so just a bit too far for a playdate. Jonah is 5 and a half months old, no teeth yet! I go to a really great playgroup for bubs under 1, its really reassuring to chat to other mums with little ones. Plus Jonah loves watching the older babies sit and crawl, and he's trying his darndest to copy them. Babyproofing, here we come... He's my first so I like that he gets the chance to hang out with kids his own age every once in a while. Are there no good playgroups in Brissy?

Hi, I am from Sydney. I have a little boy Charlie is is 5 months old, but he was 2 months premmie, so he much smaller for his age, which I am not too concerned about as he will catch up in a couple of years!

I'm in Brissy on the southside, my little boy Justin is 5 and half months old. I know what you mean about feeling isolated I feel the same way, a lot of my friends have grown up kids and back at work already too. Wow, I can't believe Kayley has 4 teeth already! Can't see any with Justin yet, he is my first also. I've joined Gymboree once a week and thinking of starting swimming son, thinking of also joining one of the playgroups locally, he needs more stimulation as he is getting more active each day.
