Hey All

I just want to find out if you bath baby first or feed him first at night? More or less what time you start the whole process AND are they sleeping through yet.

My little munchkin feeds first around 5:45, then has his bath/play time and then goes down between 7pm & 7:30pm. The lady @ the clinic said that we shouldn't let him sleep after 4pm so that he will sleep better at night, but he doesn't enjoy his bath time cos he's too tired. He still wakes up around 2/3am for a feed and then sleeps again until 5:30/6am.

Our little guy has a bath around 6-630pm, moisturise, into the pj's, then a feed at 7pm and he is off to dreamland straight after the bottle, most nights not even making it to the feed before he nods off. Then we wake him at 10pm for a feed, and he'll then sleep until about 6-7am. We have 3hr feeds during the day.

Hello!
I give my little girl her bath at 8:30 then I lotion her up and put her in her pjs. Then I give her a bottle, she's out for the night around 9. DH and I keep her awake starting at 5pm. It used to be hard to keep her awake from 5 until bedtime but now she stays awake on her own. I think she's used to her little routine now.

Hmmm...that's interesting. I read that you shouldn't wake them for a feed at 10 cos they might just wake up at 2 again, but maybe I should just give it a try.

Tnx Lise - I try to get as much ready as I can the night before.

Lyndsey - you lucky fish you! That's awesome :o)

I guess all that's left to do is try waking him around 10..

we do bath around 6:30 then play for about 15 mintues then it's bottle time and he goes straight to bed. Sleeps straight from 7pm-6am and has been doing so since he was 9 weeks!

As a side note - i've read that sleeping through is a biological milestone, and some kids hit it early and some later. Are there things you can do the night before so you mornings take less? i pack my lunch, label and lay out her bottles (in the fridge), lay out my outfit and hers, pack my workbag and her diaper bag, back up my pump - all the night before. I even have the coffee machine that makes my coffee on schedule. :) So in the morning I wake up early, latch her on while I go back to sleep, then get up and get dressed, get her dressed, and move everything to the car. Even when it's my job to change her and get her ready, it only takes me about 20-30 min in the morning (not counting the early nursing).

we don't have a set schedule, but she's working herself into one. we don't bathe her every night (the important parts get washed every day without a bath). she usually naps from about 5-545, then eats around 6. she then eats again around 8 and is asleep by 830. i feed her again around 11-midnight when I go to bed. we co-sleep and i sleep through her night feeds, but i think she usually eats one more time around 3-4 AM. I just latch her on and go right back to sleep. she technically sleeps through the night - i can read her hunger cues while she's sleeping and just latch her on before she fully wakes up. then she sleeps straight through until about 8 in the morning.

My lil guy is eating about every 2-3 hours. He eats, plays, sleeps, then restarts. On bath days I get the bathroom ready while hes sleeping after his 7-8o'clock bottle, then i run the bath when he wakes up (usually around 9), bath him, he gets creamed up like in the johnson/johnson comercials then his last bottle between 930-10 in the rocking chair with nice music, and he sleeps till 6-7 the next am. This has been happening for aobut a month or 2.

Thanks ladies! wow - not sure i could wait that late. I have to be up just after 5am so I can get ready & see to him so I can leave by 6:30 latest. I really do wish I could stay home with him longer, but I have already taken the max maternity leave allowed here in SA.

Maybe I just need to give it a few weeks, he could still be working towards that. But I'm thinking he may also be getting more & more hungry. He's tall & already weighs 7.6kg's (16.7 pounds)...think I might need to introduce solids soon.

I bath my daughter at around 8:30, then bottle, book and bed my 9:15 - 9:30. She sleeps through the night (sometimes wakes up to cry...but goes back to sleep in a few minutes) and wakes at 8am...I just started this routine 2 weeks ago and its worked wonders. i think the bath is a clue that its bedtime and not just another feeding and nap. Bath first works best for us because it always seems to waken her up and make her alert...so the warm bottle after takes that away

I started taking my daughter a bath around 8 cause my husband and i dont fall asleep till 10 pretty late. after her bath i give her a warm bottle and she goes right to bed and wont wake up till 8:30 in the morning! but it really depends on your schedule. try to do it a couple of hours before your bed time. I hope this can help you out. good luck!
