I was wondering how other mother's got their little one's to go from bottle to sippy cup.
My daughter just turned one, and I have been trying for the last couple of months, but she refuses to drink from it. Just throws it around like it's a toy.
Aslo, she won't drink cow's milk or water. Even from her bottle.
Any suggestions????? :)

my son just turned one and I have been giving him one of those sippy cups with a straw for a couple months now. He has not had a bottle since he was 10 months. he drinks everything from the straw cup. milk, juice, and water.

Well, my son does the same thing with the sippy cup, so I avoid it at all costs.....BECAUSE he drinks from a straw (and has since he was 6 months old) - it is a little more labor intensive because I typically have to hold the cup for him, but at least I don't have fluids everywhere! Did you try doing 1/2 and 1/2 with cow milk and formula to wein her? My little guy did well with that for about 2 weeks, and now we are starting whole cow milk. He doesn't seem to know the difference. Has your doctor said anything about getting rid of the bottle completely? Ours said 14 months, so I have to move fast! I think it has just been easy to put him down with a bottle (even if taking him to bathroom to brush his teeth after, then putting him down). He just eats a LOT!

This is what my son uses, he likes these a lot. hard top sippy cups or ones that are difficult to get juice out of, those kind he throws or bats around the floor and refuses to use. Plus he will drink cow's milk from his sippy. Bonus for me since today he's one and I want to take the bottle away.

myself i just started giving him the cup more often then the bottle he knows the difference but often as long as there is something in his cup he will take it. i normally stop giving the bottle at night, so that the cup is more attractive to him! but he has his moments, how ever every time i feed him or give him something to drink in stead of using the bottle i always use to cup he becoming more and more use to it and its better for his teeth rather then a bottle and or passy.

I found Soy milk since it is sweeter than cow's milk most breastfed babies like better. Mine switched over to a sippy cup with a straw after he watched both me and my son constantly drinking from one. He still gets his bottle in the AM and PM though... and whenever he is really fussy.

Aiedan would never use a bottle, but had no issues with his sippy cup. (Now he likes to dump it and finger paint with the milk or shake it and spray everything in sight!) I agree about using a cup with a soft spout and offering it regularly.

ha ha, my daughter refuses to drink from a bottle, since she was born!! i bought her one of those sippy cups with the soft teat when she was about 5 months old and she loves it, she has it with everymeal!! but my daughter loves water, and juice (watered down) but milk she is very iffy about!! sometimes she will and sometimes she won't, even with chocolate in it lol, my daughter has been able to suck out of a straw since 10 months too, her dad asked if she could and before i could answer she had grabbed his drink and started slurrping so i got my answer lol, don't worry just keep trying and she will get it sooner or later lol :) goodluck!!

To be honest i havent had this problem at all my daughter is so clever with her mouth she drinks out of straws she has done since about 10 months she even copys what ever you do i suppose its because i started giving her a beaker at about 5 months at now she just finds it normal , she drinks faster than me! with the cows milk in a bottle have u made the bottle hot if u have try putting a lil bit of choco milkshake in with it and mixing it not alot just enuff to taste it ? my friends all said thats what they did and if u put your baby to bed with a bottle or beaker they know that that is all theve got :DD

My little one wasn't bottle fed, but we still had a hard time adjusting to the sippy cup. I found some cups by gerber with a soft spout, and I would put it in her mouth for her and she just began to suck from it. She just chews on the hard ones. For the cow's milk and water, just keep on offering it and eventually she will take it. I would always give it to my daughter with a meal on her highchair tray, and when she was thirsty she figured out that it was there for her to drink.
