My 12 week old has had diarrhea for 16 days now. Her butt is so raw that it bleeds. They checked her stool for rodavirus and it was negative. She didn't have any changes in her diet. They can't seem to figure out why she has it. The doctor sent us to the emergency room with her last weekend and they just told us that she is still hydrated and since she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms keep doing what we're doing and if it's not better in a few days call the doctor. The doctor told us to give her pedialite half of the time for a day and see. Then they told us to try giving her cereal in her bottle. Then they told us to put her on soy milk because she may have developed a lactose intollerance. She still has the diarrhea and her butt is so sore! Any suggestions why she may have the diarrhea?

You may try the chiropractor! My brother had diahrrea for a lenghty time, and they sent him to the chiropractor and that helped him!

You should definitely go back to the doctor.. if you doctor is not helping you then go see another.. If the baby has had diarrhea for this long there is definitely something wrong..As for the baby's bum, wash it after each poo, in the sink with alittle soap, pat dry and a great thing to use for a rash is just corn starch. It is a great home remedy that totally works.. good luck

Are you giving her straight milk or are you talking about her formula? If formula you may need to switch from Soy to a1 00% hypoallergenic formula. Such as Similac Alimentum or Infamil Nutramigen. Most kids that have a cows milk allergy are allergic to soy to.The milk protein in these formulas are so microscopic, it is so easy for them to digest it. My daughter was like that. Very bad diarrhea with a little blood in it.It ended up that she had a cows milk allergy and we switched her to Alimentum.



Also be careful with the cereal in the bottle, it may have the reverse affect and constipate her.. If you do the cereal in the bottle, rice based is very binding. I'd go for oatmeal or barley. Hope this helps......
