My son is still getting up 2 to 3 times a night for a feed dose anyone know how to cut out the night feeds or slow them down to 1 time a night i have a 15 month old son and a 8 year old daughter so my rest through the night would be so nice right about now.

my daughter WAS sleeping through the night since around Christmas time, and the past week decided that she would give me V.I.P. access to her Crib Parties, and put me in charge of bottle service, twice a night. I know shes young and can handle it, but her mother just can't party all night anymore. haha

Rachel..

My daughter (born on 11/10/09) does the same thing. Infact I think she wakes up more than 4 times. I have started co sleeping now. She is exclusively breastfed so far. Just started some solids for lunch lately. I think breastfed babies get into the habit of comfort feeding. I'll see how things change after I start cereals at night.

Just wanted to know You are not alone.

I co sleep and breastfeed so all i do is latch baby on (he can do it himself too) and go back to sleep.

My son still wakes up 1-2 times a night... I usually give him a bath at 8pm then a bottle directly following... he'll usually stay asleep until 3{I always give night time bottles in the dark} and as soon as he fills his belly up he goes right back to sleep... then he'll usually wake up at around 9 for the nxt 1

My son is sleeping about 8-10 hours a night, sometimes more without waking. Due to that he will eat frequently throughout the day. He has always been a great sleeper. But my advice is NEVER NEVER NEVER turn on the tv or bright lights while feeding at night. It will only wake the child up more.

My LO still wakes to eat through the night. Not sure how frequently (I sleep through it), but I know she does.

I can't help you. My son usually gets up twice a night (between 8:30 and 6:30)...sometimes he still gets up 3 times and even 4, but usually just twice. I've learned how to nurse while laying on my side. I usually wake up with my boob hanging out, but I get alittle more sleep :) HA!

i have been so lucky with my kids!!!! my son slept through the night at 2 weeks old and my daughter started at 2 months old. i don't know what made them sleep through the night. they were both big babies... and i give an extra ounce of formula at the nighttime bottle.

My first two kids slept through the night before a month old, this one was 4 months old when she finally started sleeping over 6 hours. i think having them sleep, naps, nighttime in the crib is important. with the furnace running all the time i have a humidifier in the room too to help moisten the air. and we use a blanket sleeper to keep her warm so she can't kick off the covers and get cold.

My little guy gets a dream feed at 10pm also and he sleeps thru until around 6-6.30am (although it was 5.30 this morning which i wasn't too keen on). He's been sleeping thru since 9wks and we have had this process going the whole time although it used to be a 11.30pm dream feed. He's a really heavy sleeper at night, but quite light during the day. At 6wks I had to start introducing formula as I was 'drying up' and by 9wks he was fully on formula. Not sure if that helped him get thru the night. During the days though he likes his feeds 3hrly.

My son and I have a nightly routine that we have to live by. At about 7pm he gets a bath, after I rub him down with lotion and give him a little massage, he takes a 6oz bottle and goes to sleep. He will wake around 1am for another 6 oz feeding and go back to sleep until 7am. During his 1am feeding I keep the lights dim, I try not to play with him or talk to him too much. Sometimes its hard when I see his big brown eyes gazing at me. During the day I try to keep him on a routine where he takes 2 naps.

you can try doing some grouped feedings before bedtime....that is offer numerous feeds as often as possible before putting baby to bed. This helps to build up the calories before baby goes down and gives more in the "bank" to get through while sleeping. I think dream feeds are fantastic, I know they really helped me to get more sleep and get into a better sleep routine for myself. Toby (oct 13 09) has a bottle around 6pm then will have some pureed veges (pumpkin, kumara or carrot sometimes mixed with a little rice cereal) then a nice relaxing bath. He will then have a top up of the rest of his bottle or I'll make more if he drank it all before dinner. He goes to bed around 7-7:30pm and then I will go and dreamfeed him around 10:30pm. I just very very gently pick him up and feed him in his room with a very dim lamp and make it nice and quiet. No singing or talking just some soft kisses on his head while he feeds and sometimes I stroke his head gently if he starts to wake up too much. He will drink as much as needs and either stay asleep or fall straight back to sleep in my arms, so straight back to bed he goes then straight to bed I go too!! To begin with he would still wake somewhere between 3-4am but at least I was only getting up once in the night, rather than I just get into bed, fall asleep and then he wakes up! Now he will go through to 7am and wakes up happy as a wee clam, he will spend around 1/2 hour talking to himself and blowing raspberries while I get the morning bottle ready. My plunket nurse said if he is happy by himself for up to 1/2 hour in the mornings to let him have this time by himself as it will help him to continue this on in the future rather than waking and fretting to be picked up immediately. We started dream feeding when he was around 11weeks and he would drink 150mls, then it was around 100mls. For the last week or so he has only been taking between 40-60mls so Im wondering if he mite not need this feed a few months from now. It worth a try, it helps that at least you can get into bed knowing that you just fed them and will hopefully be able to get your head down for 3-4 hours at least. Alot of people think that by giving them cereal they will sleep through the night very quickly, it definately works for some babies but its not the rule. If it doesnt work for you, dont be disheartened....your baby is just needing more calories maybe or not ready to sleep thrugh just yet. Any new techniques will take some time to become part of your routine so just pick something you'd like to try and be consistent with it for at least 2weeks and then you may really notice wether you are having results or not. Good luck!!

my baby girl serena has been sleeping her nights since 6 weeks that's when i stopped breastfeeding ... she sleeps 10 hr nights and i have no idea how .. she only takes about two naps during the day and a tire her out as much as i can.. watching movies letting her roll alot... walking on my stomach standing up alot ... she sleeps usually 8 pm to 6 am. she used to sleep from 10 or 11 to 8 or 9 which is what i want her to start doing again :).. but 2 nights ago she was tired she slept from 5pm to 3 30 am then went back to sleep for a couple hrs so i could sleep a bit... and shes also teething so i guess im just lucky on that one ... best baby girl in the world :) i love you serena ♥

My baby was waking 3-4 times a night, but the last few nights i've given her a dream feed when i go to bed at 10pm ish and now she only wakes once around 4am, which is heaven! Other than that, i think they decide when they want to start sleeping through!! I just keep thinking that she'll get better once her teeth come through and she's on solids.

i have been blessed with a freakishly awesome sleeper so not sure if my advice will be any good :) i feed kayley at 10pm (she's bottle fed) and that seems to see her thru the night. her 10pm feed is a 'dream feed'. there's no lights on, i don't WAKE her (soemtimes she wakes, but generally she just sleeps through it), i dont' talk to her etc.

dunno. like isaid, i think she's the exception to the rule. she's been sleeping thru since 4 weeks!!

My daughter eats every three to four hours night and day! I think she may be going through a growth spurt, we're hoping to start her on cereal soon. Hopefully that will help her sleep longer!
