Has anyone started feeding their baby cereal yet?

I have been giving Aspen rice cereal in his bottle since he was a few weeks old due to acid reflux. I have increased the amount of rice in his bottles but he is drinking over 7 ounces and then doing a lot of spitting up. I fed him a small bowl of rice cereal the other day and it made a huge difference. Now he wants to eat cereal everyday. Is is too early?

Yes I agree it is not too early. Baby Anthony started on cereal in the bottle at abour 4 weeks olds and he seems to be happy with it and we haven't had any problem. He is 18 wks at 17lbs.

Go ahead. I have put rice in Hannah's bottles too and Dr. just told me at 4 month checkup that we can start bowl feeding. Also, I was just putting 1/4 to 1 teaspoon in each bottle. Dr. said they recommend 1tsp per ounce for refux. That's great that he likes the cereal. Hope Aspen does better with a spoon feeding than mine.

We started our son, Jake on cereal this week( he'll be 4 months Saturday, the 20th). We can't feed him fast enough! He loves it. He eats 1tbsp of cereal with formula and a 5 oz bottle. I'm just not sure how much formula to give him with the cereal...

I started my daughter on cereal a week ago and she loves it! I dont think its too early, I usually hear ppl reccommending starting it at 4 months. Just do what you feel is right for your baby. My daughter is a little piggy, she eats 2tbs of cereal in the morning and a 7oz bottle!

I just started Claire on rice cereal only about 1TBLS at night before her last feeding. I breastfeed her and she still seems pretty content.

It's definately not too early. If he seems more satisfied with it then it's perfect. My son didn't want anything to do with cereal, I tried everything, adding juice to it, adding applesauce to it, nothing worked. Then I gave him squash and he loved it! He has tried squash and sweet potatoes and he loves them both! My ped. also asked me at his 4mth check-up if we had started him on solids and she said that it was good that he liked them and that he was eating them. They say to start around 4-6mths, and as long as he likes it then it doesn't matter if anyone else thinks its too early, your son is happy with it and thats all that matters!
