Can anyone help with this. My son will not eat anything unless it is Fruit or bread for the most part. I can get him to eat a hamburger every once in a while. It worries me because I dont feel like he eats enough. Is anyone else dealing with this?

Our ped. said peanut butter sandwiches are a good source of protein too!

Do you ever try giving him quickbreads like banana bread or zucchini loaf? You can hide tons of stuff in those kinds of things, like pureed or shredded veggies, nuts and all sorts of good stuff. Muffins too.

My daughter went through a phase in her 16 month where she didn't eat meat. She did grow out of it two or three weeks later but still sometimes it's hard still. she also eats a ton of fruit and little meat but i know she's getting good foods and nutrition (whole grains, protein, calcium etc)

I make a bunch of different things, and my little guy usually eats enough to satisfy him. I have found my lil one loves steamed carrots, sweet potato, waffles (breakfast), raisens, cranberries, chicken, organic animal crackers, cheese, turkey and cheese quesadilla...I too am looking for more creative, healthy eating ideas for my son and my friends little guy that I watch 2 days a week.

My little one eats barely anything!! once and awhile she will eat a good amount, but it also worries me that she only eats cheese?!?! and some fruit, and bread.. she doesnt seem to like meat? but i guess at this age they go through these fazes where they eat next to none, then before you no it they are eating like normal again. Also i know its not good but the way my baby girl fills up is a bottle still :s, maybe thats what im doing wrong.. gotta kick the bottle!

I guess that maybe if that is all he will eat maybe you can get some juice that tastes like fruit but also has veggies...if that is all that he will eat then at least it will be more healthy :)

have you introduced peanut butter yet? Usually you can start it when they hit 1 but some peds suggest waiting till 2. Peanut butter can be a great way to get in some protein. Just keep an eye on him the first time he eats it to watch out for any signs of an allergic reaction.

I talked to my sons pediatrician two months ago at his 15 month appt because my son is a really picky eater and is only is the 2 percentile for his weight. The pediatrician said to mix milk with instant breakfast...he said that pediasure is bascally the same thing but costs a lot more. He also gave him a prescription for a multvitamin to insure he was getting what he needs.

I started making only one plate of food for my son and I to share... He seems to be less picky if I was eating it first... It is working for now but you never know. Kids start realizing that they have a "choice" and their go the veggies.. It's natural... just apart of asserting their personality and testing their boundries... stick with it and eventually he'll be eating whatever is in front of him... But for now be patient and creative... my son will eat anything if I play peekaboo with a paper plate while he eats... So good luck sugar... and don't stress too much... if you get super concerned... call his pediatrician and ask some questions... xoxo

Ya i have a 17 month old who is really picky with that he eats and does not eat much. So I started mixing two scoops of Enfagrow (10-36 months) powder in his regular milk. I figured the enfagrow has the vitamins he needs. 8oz of cows milk is 150 calories, plus two scoops of powder mixed in...makes it around 250 calories. It makes the milk thick and filling. I dont know if its doctor recommended, but I did it, and it atleast gave me the satisfaction that he is getting all the nutrients he needs....along with the small meals he ate.

He knows best. Hide the meat and veggies in things he likes. My son still likes his cereal so sometimes I'll mix it into yogurt. I'm sure he'll let you know when/if he's hungry.

I would just try offering a ton of food, in many different ways. Frozen or fresh fruit, cooked or raw veggies, seasoned or regular meat, etc. Did you feed him purees or go with babyled weaning?
