My son is almost 3 months old. How many ounces should he be eating a feeding? He is scarfing down 4 ounces every 4 hours or so and I feel that sometimes he may want more. There are times that he just eats 3 ounces too... I feel like I should be giving him more per feeding but I dont want to upset his tummy. HELP!!!

You wont upset his tummy by offering your baby more! Think of how you eat, you eat until you are full! This is exactly what your baby will do. My son is 11 weeks old and eats 7oz every four hours! Sometimes he doesnt drink it all and usually leaves half of an ounce every feed but I'd rather him leave some in the bottle than drink it dry and still want more! My baby is extremly content, happy and sleeps through a whole 8 hours, I believe this is down too his eating and his routine. Seriously some people read into things too much about upesting a babies digestive system but you won't hurt him and if he does act a little greedy and its too much for his belly he will throw up what he don't need. I hope this helps you and other people haven't worried you too much.

Hey Amanda, I have an 11 week old baby girl and she's eating 6 oz almost every feeding. Sometimes she will finish it all, then other times leaves approx and oz left...depends. Would rather her have enough than not for her feeding-formula- (don't have to keep adding to, that got old quick, lol). Once she got to 6-7 weeks I could tell she wanted more...and she's doing great-sleeping through the night! Good luck

prob best to ask a midwife or someone at your child health centre it normally says on the formula tin.. i have a 3yr old son and 8wk old girl who ive recently swapped over to formula and also sometimes feel as though she isnt quite full i normally give her a bit more therefore shell normally go for a bit longer till the next due feed or wont have quite as much. i asked a midwife and she said especially going from breast to formula theyre still used to having it on demand and being able to feed till they are content they wont overfeed but just to make sure if ur bub is full and doesnt want to finish the last 20mL or whatever not to try and force them to prolong the times inbetween or cos u dont wanna waste it etc cos thatys bad then they wont be able to tell when theyre full or not therefore more likely to have an overweight child.. thats what i was told anyway but i think u will know whats right for ur baby and you.. best of luck

Formula, I assume, not expressed breast milk? Keep in mind babies can overeat from a bottle. Not sure what's a good amount of formula :-/....
