Hi there
My little girl is nearly 10 months old, and has no teeth yet.
She has been teething for months, but none have popped thru.
I know that it can take up to one year for some babies to get teeth, but I don't know anyone who's baby has taken that long.
Is this happening to anyone else?

My son is going to be 10 months old on Aug 19th but he's yet to cut a tooth... I took him to the dentist because I was concerned and she said mother nature sometimes messes with our heads and said it was ok.. Wait until she's a year old then take her to the dentist and see what they say now

Hi. My little boy has 8 teeth already, so I haven't had that problem, but my niece was 12 months old when she got her 1st tooth. She ate all the same foods as all other kids of her age including biscuits etc with no problem. I wouldn't worry. They'll come when they come.

Hello, all
I wanted to share this with you. My daughter was/is in the same boat as many of your babies. I asked the question of her ped at her 9month visit. The doc said not to worry...those teeth don't even help them chew. We chew with our molars...which I've also heard are the most awfully painful when they come in. Not to worry, the teeth will come.

Several of my kids were later teethers. In fact 1 of my twins didnt have any teeth till she was 20 months! She only had 2 by their 2nd birthday. As long as your ped, isnt worried , relax & enjoy those gummy smiles abit longer.

Every baby is different, definitely! My lil one is 9 and a half months old and he has 4 teeth, with 2 more about to break the surface. My cousin's lil girl is a few weeks older and has no teeth. No big deal, they'll come soon enough!

My baby (10 months on the 10th) doesn't have any teeth yet either, and I swear she's been teething since 4 months! Just be patient! They'll come! I have a friend whose baby didn't get any teeth until 13months! They WILL come :) In their own time...

No teeth here - at 9.5 months. There is no sign of them coming any time soon either. I'm not worried about it at all. As for food she manages to eat lots of unmashed foods - biscuits, toast/bread, cruskits, rice cakes, cheese sticks, veggies, banana, scrambled egg etc. It's amazing what they can chew/bite without teeth.

my little girl has no teeth yet, but has been teething for 6 months! Swollen gums, no teeth through... I read that even with babies who don't start teething till later on, they still get them all through by around 2 1/2years, so it all just over with quicker!

just a quick update for you, after nearly eight months of teething pains, drooling and chewing on absolutely everything, Kaitlin has a tooth bud showing this morning, and we give her the same food we eat, just make sure everything is cooked until it's soft enough to gum through

Um, might be a bit hard because we live in different countries but I'll try. unmashed banana, slices of avocado, we have crispbread here called cruskits, do you know what I mean by that? Its like a long puffed cracker made of corn and they soften when you suck on them. Um, soft or thinly cut meat like ham or sausages. Flaky fish. Mandarins segments, peas, grated cheese, well cooked carrot, brocolli and cauliflower and pasta. Does that help? Their gums are tougher than you think and given time and supervision, they can chew quite a lot. I wouldn't give tough meat or crackers, raisins or any other dried fruit, apple (unless cooked) or pears (or similarly hard fruit), but other things should be ok. I'm not too sure about bread though, i need to try my daughter with that. Hope that helps :)

When my son was 1 with still no teeth I would give him cooked potatoes, cooked carrots, any cooked vegetable cut into cubes that he could mash with his gums. Even cooked peas he could do. Small cubes of cheese. Banana, cooked apple, chopped up slices of peaches. Fish is easy since it's so flakey. He did okay with cooked ground meat, and pasta cut into very small pieces. He ate lots of yogurt.
Maybe that will help?

My daughter also has no teeth. I asked the plunket nurse (baby nurses in NZ) and she said to still give her food which isn't mashed. Obviously not really hard things like a cracker but anything that softens with saliva or that you can push into the roof of your mouth with your tongue.

My mom has told me that both my sister and I didnt get our teeth until after a year. My boy was born Oct 20, he's just over 9 mos, he's been teething for three or four months now. They're just barely coming to the surface. They move up and down and can take awhile. Just be patient!! Cold wet wash cloths in the freezer are nice to chew on for them.

My oldest son did not get his first tooth until he was 15 months old! He's 2 1/2 now and just got his last tooth! My little guy is nearly 10 months old and has no teeth, but I'm not worried since my other didn't get his teeth until late. It's not a big deal, just inconvenient since it makes eating "big people food" a challenge. Don't worry too much, it's not as uncommon as you think!

My son is almost 10 months old & he still has no teeth. My brother did not get teeth until 10 months, my sister got them right on time & I was in between at about 7-8 months. I have NEVER hear of children going until 2 to have teeth...I don't think that's the truth. However, they will come in their own time. I do know a girl who's canine teeth did not come in & she wore a special retainer that had fake canine teeth in it. I thought it was pretty neat.

That's the most annoying part aye Lisa! My daughter seems to have been teething on and off for the last 5 months! Sometimes it's like a tap has been turned on in her mouth, she drools SO much and then nothing comes of it. Ah well, one day they'll make an appearance.

No worries. My son will be 10 months on Wednesday and his 1st tooth is barely starting to cut. One of my best friend's son didn't get his first tooth until 12 months. I was speaking with my dental hygienist and she said the jaw actually has more time to grow so when teeth do start coming in they will likely be straighter. . .even if for a little while until their permanent ones come in.
