Rash on checks and behind ears and little bit on neck

Congrats! I'm a new mom too. My daughter would spit up formula if it was too cold or not a temperature that she liked. I usually give her four ounces, provided she hasn't ate in three hours, if she wants more, she gets more.
As for the rash, my daughter has it as well. Presently, I'm putting on baby lotion that has no perfume and for sensitive skin. I've noticed that the red is gone, but the bumps remain. I hope that this has been helpful.

Hi my little girl has a rash around her neck and chest and it's from where she spits up her milk so I wouldn't worrie to much (yes i'm a first time mum too) and as to your baby spitting up more it could be that it's just where he is getting more food, he is getting more wind but if your still not sure and don't want to feel a twit going to ask the doctor all the time ask your health visitor when you get him next weighed thats what they are there for and I find them a good mind of info plus you don't feel to silly asking them . Good luck with it all and your not on your own not knowing what things are :)

Most likely nothing bad. My son gets this kind of rash all the time. He's a warm baby and when he and I snuggle, he gets it bad on the back of his head and where his cheek is touching me. Try to monitor it over a day or two and see if it goes away through the day when you don't lay with him. If you're really worried, take him in. It could be eczema too. try aquaphor or bag balm on it. hydracortizone always makes my sons diaper rashes worse. Good luck!

My daughter Isabelle had the same problem at 6 weeks. I put hydrocortisone on her face for about 5 days and it got somewhat better. The pediatrician told me that it was unlikely a reaction to detergent; however, I had recently changed detergents and decided to change back to see if the rash got better. Thankfully, her face has cleared up and she only has a few bumps in her head. I just assumed that her face and neck are super sensitive whereas the rest of her body isn't. Try changing detergents and see if it clears up. Good luck!

Heya

I am also a first time mum and this is exactly what my boy has. I suffer from eczema and noticed this as it was similar to my rash, I use hyperderm which is a very low dose eczema cream and that has cleared it up nicely, also the bathing very frequently and making sure he is dried thoroughly.

I have stopped breastfeeding because of problems but may try some of the other things suggested.

You recommended that I use breast milk as a lotion on Lucian, it worked great. That along with the bathing more frequently has close to cleared everything up.

My son gets it the longer he goes without a bath. My dr. said it was dry skin. When I give him a bath and put lotion on him it goes away

My son had something sounding very similar-Im a first timer as well and when son started getting this rash like thing on his head, and on his shoulders I was concerned. Doc actually said it was nothing to worry about not to put anything on it and it would also go away. Like a heat rash almost but he said a lot of newborns get it, he called it "craddle cap" and it doesnt have to be on their heads to be considered. My son is 8weeks old now, and its been gone at least 2weeks-still fallin asleep with me and having no problems. It didnt bother him either. Hope that helps some! Good luck& congrats!

I have a i month old iam nursing but was giving her formula as a supplement.my daughter has the same rash and she was spitting up alot also ,she just went for her checkup and my doctorsthinks she has a milk allergy. This is my 4th child and the first one with these symps. I got her Soy based formula and stopped my drinking and eating anything with milk (because I am nursing), It has only been 2 days but i noticed a big improvement in her rash and her spit and she is not crying so much. My suggestion is for you to get Soy based formula and try that. do not put any cream on your baby for now. You need to start to rule out things if it is the milk it will take about 2 days for you to see a difference. If it was detergant it would be all over his body.

my little one has a pimply rash all over his body (he's 5.5 weeks old) He just had his 6 week check and the doctor said this is very normal for little ones and should clear up my month 2-3. So get the doc to check out at your 6 week check to put you at ease.

My little one has this acne as well. She is 5 weeks old tomorrow. She has it on her face, neck, the sides, and back of her head. I hope it goes away a little bit, we have christmas portraits on saturday!

My son is now 8 weeks old. He had the same thing. The spitting up and the rash. I was told it was from GERD. They switched his formula, and he takes nexium. No problems anymore. A LOT happier baby! Hope it gets better for you!

I'm a first time mommy too. So I know the anxiety you have. I call the nurses, make doctor appointment, go to the E.R. for any little thing. Turns out "for my baby" the bumps were normal. When your baby spits up, you need to clean it up. not just wipe up the mess. The milk runs down their cheeks, into their neck, and drips to their back. So every time they spit up. You need to get a wet wipe or wet cloth and clean the milk off of them.

wow i just went through this!! my son will be 6 weeks tomorrow, he is also eating 4oz. almost every feeding. anyways, he had a rash on his neck.. I just put some penentan cream (for rashes) on the container it says for common skin irritations, so i put a thin layer on his neck twice in one day. it was cleared up the next day! so maybe just try whatever you use for diaper rash. seemed to work well for me! hope this helps you! :)

Hi MY wee man is 6 weeks old too and Im also a first time mum. He has also had a rash cheeks back neck and chest. Some of it is apparenlty par tof his homone spots and the rest is just heat rash.
Ill tell you what I did, And it may seem weird. But you said you were formula feeding nto breast feeding. Every time I breast fed him I put breast milk on his rash and its mostly cleared up now.
Also was told to put bepanthen on it which would also stop any skin infection. His skin is now starting to look and feel nice again.

Also what Stephanie said Bathing them more frequently helps.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one to worry about this. I too am a first time mom of a 7 week old boy. I have noticed a grouping of pimple like spots that started on his shoulders, that then moved to the back of his neck and started to move to his cheeks, within 2 days. I then gave him a bath and the spread stopped... rather than bathing him twice a week we are now having a bath every two days. I hope this helps. My little girl had baby acne for a few weeks around Halloween my pediatrician said its perfectly normal and not to do anything. It went away in 4 days now she's perfect. Best of luck hope this helps. I'm a firsttime mom too!

i had my little boy 8 weeks ago, on october 5th. he seems to be a hungry baby, but when i feed him he is very unsettled after and also spits up, i am booking an appointment tomorrow morning with his dr to see if it may be a reflux issue.
he also had a red blotchy/spotty rash on his head, cheeks, neck and shoulders, our doctor said it was eczema and we have been using oilatum and diprobase along with a steriod cream, it does seem to be alot better than before although im still not convinced that it is eczema. i had bathed him in infacare and thats when the rash appeared. im going to continue using what was advised, he is my 4th baby so don't worry, its not just 1st time mummys that panic lol .. i panic all the time when something doesn't seem right, it's always best to go with your instinct :) .. you know what they say ... a mothers instinct is always right :)

also, from having my 1st baby which was 10 years ago, the health visitors etc have changed their opinion on bathing (along with everything else) so many times, i go with what i feel is best and my kids are healthy, so don't worry about bathing too often or not enough, its up to you

Hello! I am also a first time mom to a now 8 week old boy. My son would (and still does) get what looks like a rash. I noticed that for him though its because of oily skin (thats what I am guessing) because if I wash his face everyday it stays away. I also have to wash his face instead of just wiping the spit up off his face or it comes back. Maybe just try washing it with plain water and see if that helps. :) good luck and enjoy your little one!
