So... When is it *safe* to give your child peanuts?

I'm interested to know if you KNOW.
I've not googled it, i think there's probably a different opinion.

I was told smooth peanut butter from 9 months. But whole nuts is either 3 or 5. Iv given my daughter peanut butter, and cakes with nuts in, but wouldnt give her whole nuts yet.

Our pediatrician has said peanut butter was fine to try before our son turned a year. Just try it like any other new food. He is 18 mo. now and she still says stay away from peanuts because of possible choking, since they are small.

Yeah i figured it would be about 1... considering most of ther things like eggs and milk are ok from 1. There's no Nut problems in our family on either side so i think i'll start adding some nuts to his cereal and food. Thanks :)

I was told 3 years old by baby clinic nurses, then I recently read they think 1 years old is ok!! Things keep changing all the time, I guess if there is a family hystory of nut allergies, just be more cautious!!!!
