My little girl loves her cube. Its from the garden friends Range at Toys R Us. She has several things from this range and is attracted to all of them. On her crib she has the garden friends mobile which she will stare at from across the room! She also has the spiral crib toy from this range and she loves grabbing at the butterfly and pulling it towards her. She often wakes up laughing and cooing and playing with this toy! As for the cube I place it next to her when she is playing on her playmat and she will bat and grab at it. There is a beaded handle that she can grab and hold and then as she waves her hands the cube moves and jingles. It also has a crinkly peek-a-boo leaf that hides a mirror and she is able to move this up and downa nd listen to the crinkly noise. It also has a teether and a bee which are both attached by strind and she enjoys holding the string and as she moves her hand the cube moves and jingles again. I recomend all the toys form this range as they have bright bold colours and they seem to be the only toys she is attracted to!

A play gym is wonderful. My 2 1/2 month old loves her play gym. She hits the little dangly toys with her hands and tries to roll over, it's great! Also, a Bumbo is the best thing ever. It encourages them to sit up on their own and you can put the tray on it and place a few rattles and it's gold to them.

Andrea. Your son is rolling over really early. That's awesome.

My son likes anything he can grab at. He likes things that make noise and dangle. He's started grabbing at things, so anything like that keeps his attention for about 15-20 minutes. The play gym is a great idea b/c you can use it for tummy time or back time so they can look and grab at things. Mine also has a musical thing on it with lights that he can look at. I agree with the others that a tummy time mat is good, but my son HATES it. He can handle it for about 10 minutes in a week time frame. Almost every time I put him on his tummy, he fusses and rolls himself over onto his back. He has learned to hold his head up really good by me letting him stand up and some others said, putting him on my chest!

Lise, the chest is a great idea. I'll try that next time. Thanks!

my daughter loves her activity mat, tummy time mat, and any small stuffed toys that are soft that she can grasp. She got a few small baby's first dolls for christmas and they are her favorite!

For tummy time, I put my baby on my chest - it really helps keep her interested and awake. She likes it a lot more than on the floor!

She does fine on her back, she likes to look at the little polka-dot spider that hangs by her head. I'll try to start flipping her and see how she does. I'm so bad a schedules because my days always seem to depend on how much energy I have. I will try to start doing more regular tummy times too and see if that helps.

KC, does she fall asleep when she's on her back on the mat? Sometimes my son falls asleep, but I'll put him on his back and he can look up at the pooh bear and see the flashing lights. This stimulates him and he dances to the music, then I can roll him back over on his tummy. I also have him do tummy time twice a day, once in the morning and once in he evening before bath time, maybe if you get her used to a schedule she'll eventually learn that's awake time to play on her mat. I'm not sure of any other advice I can give you, I hope this helps : )

Crystal, I have read that babies this age benefit from tummy time because they slowly strengthen their little neck muscles. Every time i try it though, my baby just turns her head, lays it down, and falls asleep. It doesn't matter when she slept or fed last, she always does it. Anyone else have this happen?

My daughter loves to look at herself in the mirror. I've also recently introduced a rattle. She doesn't always care about it but when I can get it to catch her attention is good for helping her learn to follow things with her eyes.

I agree, a tummy time mat is great for babies this age. They work on strengthening their neck and arm muscles.

i find that a play gym where the baby lays under dangly toys are good, they not yet at the age of actually playing with toys so this lets them explore with the hands and feet they learn to hit the toys first then progressivly play with them more and more
