What do you do with your babies while they are awake??

Usually when Emma is awake we have some "face time" so we talk, touch and just interact with each other plus she has three silbings that she has face time with every day. She also plays on her mat with toys to work on her grasping skills and rolling over. I try and limit her tv time to no more than an hour a day and that's spread out through the day. I mainly let her watch tv in the morning when I'm trying to get my boys off to school and get my 2 year-old and myself dressed and ready for the day.

I mostly just talk and sing to him.. Alot of times I will lay with him in the floor and play toys with him, he is only 4 months but he is very alert.. When I put him in his swing,which he loves, he likes to watch TV which blows my mind. He is such good baby, we love playing with him.

My daughter hated tummy time as well but I propped her up on her boppy pillow with some toys to look at and she enjoyed it for a little while. She's also very happy in the morning so I put her on her tummy and talk to her in the mornings while we both wake up lol. Now she likes laying on her tummy for a few minutes at a time.

Aliya loves her activity mat so she plays a lot with her toys. I also talk and cuddle with her. She loves me kissing her feet and then I bring them up to her mouth and 'make' her kiss them...she laughs every time and I just love hearing her laugh!

my baby boy is 16 wks old and he also likes to watch tv but we try to keep him turned away from it most of the time! he has an exersaucer and he LOVES playing in it, he grabs the toys and knows how to make the noisy one work, he plays with a monkey toy quite a bit (made by Carter's) and he absolutely loves his "glow worm" sea horse that plays music and it's belly lights up! he also does tummy time with toys and plays on his back under his mobile :-)

I always find it hard to know what to do with Claudia in the day. I don't want to leave her on her own too much, but need to to get jobs done around the house. We play on the mat, have tummy time, she watches tv (loves Baby Einstein!!), sing, chat, read and she also likes sitting in her reclining high chair so she can watch what I'm doing. I'm always worried about letting her watch too much tv, but sometimes it's the only thing that will occupy her.

I'm glad you asked this. I feel like I'm not doing enough either but I do everything that everyones mentioned. My husband is determined she's gonna like hockey and trys to get her to watch it with him when its on. She's HATES tummy time but we try to do that at least for a little bit everyday.

My boy hates tummy time, unless he's lying on me. other than that he has his swing, exersaucer, jollyjumper, bouncing chair, but loves to stand on mommy and daddy. \he also like sitting in his high chair and watching me in the kitchen. I find if i have a running commentary of what I am doing, he'll babble back at me or his toys...

Yup thats what I do too. Bit of tummy time every day is important. My little man loves a nappy free kick and when it's hot we have a splash in the sink or his bay bath. Go for walks, I carry him round and tell him what I'm doing. Mostly he likes it under his play gym. But I also think it's really important to sit and chat with him as he is very chatty and smiley. And we have recently started reading to him which he loves. Thats a good activity for dad! My boy is nearly 4mths btw :)

our little girl also loves it when i read to her. i have two different reading styles - one i read a proper book (Oliver Twist) at the mo - she can tolerate that for about 3-4 full pages. Then we have 'baby books' which she can touch and feel.
My hubby and i also made some finger puppets this weekend - there are heaps of templates on the net.

My little guy loves baby Einstein too! I feel bad letting him watch TV but he absoultely loves it! If he is grumpy I just put him in his rocker in front of Baby Einstein and he is happy as can be! But also loves his playmat, he will play by himself with his toys on that for a good 30 mins at a time.

We do lots of silly stuff together, we have little talks, sing songs, blow rasberries, look in the mirror at the "other baby". Try to do tummy time but he hates it! I try to read to him but he seems to get cranky, think he is still a bit little for books.

We also go for lots of walks in the pram and if the weather is nice he loves lying on a picnic rug on the grass in the backyard or at the park, he will just lie there and look at the world!

I agree with Sandi it can get a bit mundane at times but then he smiles at me and it just melts my heart!

Mine try's to watch telly lol but i play with him, sing silly songs & do silly baby talk & play with his hands & clap his feet together tell him how cleaver he is i even read him books! Do tummy time & then pop him on his back under his play mat he looks at his toys & is just starting to reach for them & try & put them & everything else in his mouth! He is so cool! Love him so much!

I was really happy to see these posts! I was thinking that I just wasn't doing enough to entertain my LO but didn't know what else to do! I am doing what all of you are and at this age I guess that's all there is! We play on the activity mat, I try reading until he gets bored, he swings, he sits in his Einstein exersaucer and plays with those activities, we take a walk and we sit on the couch and laugh and he chews on his hands. It's a little mundane day after day but I guess he's happy and that's all that matters!

My little Madison loces the tv at the moment too, but trying not to let her watch too much of it as i dnt want her thinking that is the only sort of entertainment when she is older. WE put her in her door bouncer which she loves and we do alot of tummy time to. We pull funyn faces at her which she finds funny and silly voices too, (anything to get a giggle out of her, its that cute) she loves her toys hanging off her playmat too, she tries to pull them off with one hand and has the other in her mouth haha.

There's so much to do. My first one was very needy, so all we did was go on walks while I talked and sang to her. The second one is very laid back, so we all sit on the floor and she likes to laugh at me and the older one playing. And when the older child is amusing herself or running to get a new toy, I talk to her and always smile. Or kiss her feet (because they only have these beautiful baby feet once!)

while my little one is awake she loves to be held and watch what is going on around her. She has a 2 year old brother that is loud and loves making noise. Unfortunately she does not like to be put down (most of the time) while she is awake unless she is in her swing.

Levi is the baby of 5, so he enjoys loads of attention from his brothers and sister, I carry him everywhere so he loves to look out and see everything, he sits in his bumbo while i cook and do dishes he loves that! We all put on dance shows for him, and his oldest brother reads to him, while the little mommy "does" his hair. When daddy's home they talk about cars...oddly enough he loves it.

My little man is content to lay on the floor with his toys. he watches tv. he reaches for his keys and his tigger. I will lay him on his back and talk and play with him. he is so full of smiles its hard walk away to try to get anything done.

Sometimes I run out of idea too. But usually my LO is pretty content on chilling on the floor or in her swing. She loves toys! She has been reaching for them for a few weeks now. She carries them around with her sometimes. So cute! She has this one Lion teething toy from walmart, she loves giving it kisses and cuddling with it. While she's on the floor she loves to just talk and talk. We usually have pretty good converstations! LOL!

My 3 month old is not reacting to toys yet. She loves it when we talk or sing to her. She also loves staring at her musical mobile. Tried reading stories to her, make animal sounds, clicking sounds with the tongue, teach her how to play with rattle, how to kick, how to flip and of course her tummy time. Running out of ideas too.

We play, sing, talk and read to him. Sometimes he just likes to hang out in his swing or on his playmat. He really hates tummy time but we try and do it anyway.

Braxton is 12 wks old. He loves it when u talk to him. He likes to swing, he will watch tv some, he has found his hands so that entertais him, & he will hold his links. It is also good to do tummy time everyday, although he gets mad after a few mins. He loves his glow worm he got for christmas.

Hey Archie was born ocotber 3rd he was 4 weeks prem, he loves his toys shows alot of interest, reaches and feels them. Also he loves his soft books we sit and look at this throughout the day and he will look and feel each page and when the noises are made smile and laughs...

oh the baby einstein is Great my lil boy loves it as well! My lil one 3months old is kicking n cooing n everything i sing to him i love playing with him although he hasnt graspd the toy thing yet i still try to play with them with him he loves the ones that light up! hes very tickleish! lol i do put him in his swing on his baby gym! n i just bought a bouncer hes still to lil 4 it so what i do is put him in put a blanket infront of him to sacure him n then since hes to short lol i put like a pillow or blanket under him to he loves it thou! hes also very good at amusing himself! he talks so much well trys to lol yea i also talk to him all the time just like he nos what im saying n offen get lookd at like im crazy! lol but hes so cute i cant help it lol

I put my wee one in the Moby wrap (any sling or carrier would do) and walk around the house with her while I go about my daily tasks. As I'm doing them, I tell her all about it: "See how Mommy folds the laundry? Someday this will be your job!" ;o)

In addition to my post above I've recently discovered Baby Einstein and my 10 week old absolutly loves it! U can get clips off of YouTube or I have just bought her the 26disk boxset which is selling on ebay new for £27.99! The Beethoven, Mozart and Bach are fantastic for this age group!

We do a bit of tummy time every day, funny faces & silly voices, swing, playgym, he's loving tv at the moment too. He hasn't really grasped the concept of toys yet, much prefers us, tv or this blue dot on the side of his swing which is apparently very amusing! Oh, and when I'm in the kitchen, he loves watching from his rocker in the dining room. I also tallk to him all day long about what I'm doing, hubby thinks I'm mad when he comes home and hears me rambling on heheheeheh

My daughter can entertain herself on her playmat or watching TV if ive things to do, but we have tummy time everyday, we sing and dance and I talk to her alot and make her laugh. We also play superman I hold her over my head and fly around the room, she loves it and I get big laughs out of her!!

I talk, sing, play, cuddle, tickle and dance with her but she also enjoys being by herself and will play in her swing/nest/playmat with favourite toys. I try to read her stories but she usually cries! haha. Se also likes watching tv so I will sometimes put her where she can see the tv but still give her toys to play with!
