My little girl sometmes only takes 10-20 minute naps. She sleeps fairly well at night so I don't worry. There are sometimes when she catches a good ouple hours of sleep in the day. It just all depends on the noises, activities of the day, how active she is, etc.

My little guy takes a morning nap of about 45min after he has eaten and had his bottle. He will sleep again after 12 and then after bath time @ 16H00 Then he will play till about 18:30 take a cat nap and then at about 19:30 ill put him to bed and he'll sleep right through till 7 in the morning. He will wake up sometimes when his nose are blocked or when his thirsty, but will fall asleep in an instant again.

As of right now, my son takes only two 30 minute naps during the day. Some days he'll sleep longer. He is pretty much sleeping though the night now, thank god!

My little guy will wake up in the morning at seven. Then he'll take a bottle, play in his walker or on his belly, and then about an hour later (because he has slept through the night), he'll eat some solid food. About an hour after that, he'll take another bottle and then go down for a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap. It depends on how active he was before his nap. When he wakes up, he's usually up for 3 to 4 hours and then takes a nice 2 1/2 hour afternoon nap. After that, he'll eat dinner, and then right around 7, 7:30, he'll take what I call a "cat nap," and sleep for about a half an hour, and then he'll play until bedtime (or bathtime and then bedtime) at 9:30. I hope this helps. I think it depends on how active the baby is during the day. Playing in a walker, a bouncy seat, or anything that works out their little legs is a great way to burn energy.

My 6 month old sounds exactly like everyone else's here. About an hour after waking up takes her morning nap, 1 to 2 hours. Awake for a couple more than back down for another 1 to 2 hours, although this one seems almost always at least 2. Then sometimes another little nap a couple of hours later. It's constantly up and down from the crib! She does fall asleep on her own no problem and I'm sooo grateful for that with all of this napping going on. It's always 3 a day and still early to bed.

Our baby was such a difficult daytime sleeper that I started a set of procedures for day nap time. I follow her tired signs, put her in the cot, give her a dummy and put some claissical music on (and a fan when it was summer). She often plays in her cot. Sometimes she puts herself to sleep but it has taken 2 months to get to this point. When she cries i go in, put my hand on her back (she sleeps on her tummy), and say "shhh" and she usually goes off within minutes now. But we had to be really consistent with everybody doing the same thing. If we r out, we used to use the pram and dummy, but now i can get away with letting her sleep in my arms and putting her down and she will stay asleep. I didnt do that while i was trying to teach her how to sleep as it confused her, but now she knows the dummy and cot means sleep at home i can be more relaxed when we r out.
It's definately been worth the effort as she gets a lot more sleep now (she used to go the whole day not sleeping!!) and is much happier. I have never done CIO as I always go in to her if she cries for her daytime sleeps, no matter how many times.

Oh, and as far as getting her to sleep, I usually nurse her to sleep but sometimes I wear her in a baby carrier (mei tai or Ergo mostly), and go for a walk. Either she falls asleep quickly or after a long walk, depending on how tired she is. Sometimes she wakes up when I get home and try to put her down, sometimes I can lay her down and she sleeps a long time. I swaddle her after she's asleep, and that seems to help her stay asleep (but not always).

All over the place! We are busy and somehow the naps don't always happen or last all that long. Today for example, my baby napped for 10 minutes, then woke up, then slept for 45 minutes a couple hours later, then slept for 20-30 minutes at a friend's house until someone woke her up accidentally. It's harder when you have older children (I homeschool my seven year old).

My little guy usually has about 3 naps a day, then a catnap everynight at around 6pm for 10mins. His first one in the morning is always 1-1.5hrs, but the other 2 can be anywhere from 30min-2hrs. He always happy afterwards so I don't try to make his shorter sleeps any longer as he seems to be getting what he needs. He starts showing is sleepy signs usually about 1.45-2hrs after getting up.

i googled 6month old schedules becoz i am just as confused!! seemed like its ok for them to have 3 to 4 half hour to 45 min naps a day. i was a bit relieved becoz i was wondering what was wrong with my son! he takes 4 short naps and altho he wakes up happy quite often he gets tired quickly, im finding it so exhausting and dont ever feel like going out as i have to rock and nurse him to sleep...i have been breastfeeding him on demand. any suggestions of how to change his napping, dont really wanna do the cio method.

At first my little guy was taking like 4 or 5 30 min naps and being cranky all the time but then I started him on a schedule and would lay him in his crib when he started grumbling or rubbing his eyes, now he usually takes two 1 1/2 hour naps during the day sometimes 2 hours, but there is still the occasional day ( like today ) that he will take three 45 min naps and he usually does ok with that. I just kinda go with the flow of his time clock and help him stay on track. It seems to work well, be flexible, just try to keep the times close to normal everyday so he doesn't get confused. My baby is awake for about 2 hours in between each nap and then he is ready to go down again. He is 6 months old.

My LO is a 45 minute napper. So she has 3 naps everyday as she stays awake for about 2 hours before getting tired. She will often sleep for 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon if I snuggle up with her, which is a nice excuse for me to nap!! She wakes up happy after these short naps so I'm OK with it :)
