Its summer and I want to swim at the pool/beach. I just want to put his legs in or sit on my lap on the steps. When did anyone take there babies swimming?

Go for it! My daughter just turned 11 weeks old and i took her for dips in the river, lake and in the sea! it was surprising at first for her but she quickly learned to enjoy it. just make sure to use sunscreen though because the suns intensity is increased as it reflects off the water

Zeba- Swimming lessons for babies, is about water safty and familiarity, teaching them to float and swim back to the wall if they fall into the water etc. They play games etc to simulate falling into the pool and learning to kick, float, hold and reach for the wall.

My oldest boy who is will be 4 in nov, could float/ back scull for 10 + mins and swim back to the wall by the time he was 2, he can now dog paddle and back scull a 25meter pool. He knows how to resuce some one with a noodle and knows what do if he falls into the pool and need help.

He never once used floaties or a swimming bubble, just a noodle.

I took my eldest to baby swimming when he was 3 months old. Try to find a pool with less chlorine. At that age they still have the reflex to close their mouths and noses when getting their faces wet. The beach should be fine too.

We started all our kids in swimming lessons at 6 weeks. But we waited until they were 6 months or more to take them in any fresh water type places, like beaches, lakes, ponds and rivers. I'm not even that thrilled to go swimming in some of those places..

I took my DS 1 for his first swim around 6-8 weeks it was the middle of summer and started swimming lessons at 2 1/2months... My second child she is now 3 months old and yet to step into the water as it's Winter in Australia, I am going to start her in swimming lessons in a few weeks at the start of spring.

It's recomended that babys that age should be in water around 30 degrees C.
