is it possible for them to have growth spurts that cause pain (growing pains) at this age? as in enough to cause them to wake and have terrible ngiht sleep?

anyone experience or knowlege of this? we had the WORST night last night and yet he is fine today!

Every dentist must be different because I am in the states and I asked my dentist when my daughter was smaller, "at what age should children typically start seeing a dentist" and they told me between 3 and 4 and the WIC office here said too that brushing their teeth once a day is fine.

Vicki, in Australia, the child health nurse recommended going to the dentist for the first time at about 18 months. Though we have been regularly brushing our daughter's teeth since she was about 10 months or so. The dentist is free here until they're at least 5 I think, or long. So that is probably why people go earlier. Doesn't hurt I guess! Trust your kids are having a better night!

Hi Vicki
In the USA, it is recommended to take your child to a dentist at 1 years of age, especialy if they already have teeth. My son was a late bloomer :-) he didn't get his first tooth until he was 13 months, so we waited until he as 15 months to take him. But when his top tooth was coming out he cried and woke through the night.
After your kids turn one, you take them to a dentist every 6 months, just like you would go yourself. And we were also told to brush his teeth in the morning and evening before bed.

yup, both my babies are cutting them as well. had shots today. dr said they can wake from growth pains at that age. I think it is the growth cause he's never acted this way from teething before. who knows. jsut gotta deal and try and not walk into walls next day!

I think my son is going through the same thing. I keep telling my husband that i think our toddler is having growing pains. But...he is also cutting his 4 K9s....about once or twice a week he wakes up crying so hard! it breaks my heart!

yeah they've both been teething for awhile now (twins). this was just such an odd night. thanks angela for letting me know that. curious, you are already taking this child to the dentist or an older child? I know in canada we don't for a long time but in states its earlier.
