My little one was born November 23rd. I've heard that boys develop slower, but I'm wondering if I need to work more with him, or give him time. He has rolled over from his stomace to his back on one side a couple times, but never from back to belly. He also doesnt hold his head up that well. I bought him a bumbo chair, but he can't sit in it long befor he starts getting fussy. Should I be concerned?

All kids are different..your doctor should tell you if you need to be concernd. My daughter was born on the 27th and she never really rolled from her back to front and now she is walking..he will prob just get it just keep trying to show him things.

if i were you i would take him to either a health unit or a infant play group, because they should have a milestone check list. they will go through it with you and will tell you what to work on and if there are any real concerns that you should have looked at by your doctor. another plus to that is they will give you games and tips to play with you son to encourage him to reach the next goal.

my concern would be more with his head control because they should be able to sit up enough to start eating the jarred foods by six months.

I wouldn't necessarily worry. My son was born on exactly the same day and he has good head control, but he hates tummy time. He doesn't roll over from belly to back as often as I think he should, but I'm not to worried. He has never rolled from belly to back, but I don't think that's an expectation at this point. Work with him in the Bumbo. Do it in little spurts of time and maybe he will get used to it. Paxton loves his, but we have to catch him in the right mood. I would call your pediatrician.

My baby was also born on the 23rd. She has not rolled from her belly to her back, but she has done the back to belly. she isn't a big fan of tummy time, so i think that's why she did from back first. but really, back to belly isn't supposed to happen until 6 months. as far as him holding his head up, just make sure hes getting enough tummy time. my baby doesn't like laying on her belly on the floor, but she got her great head control from doing tummy time on my chest. even if you're holding him, as long as he is trying to hold his head up on his own, that counts. hes not really going to be able to sit in the bumbo seat for a while until he can hold his head up really well. stella only just recently started liking it for more than 10 minutes at a time. just remember that every baby does things at different times. but if you're really concerned you can always talk to your pediatrician about it.

My baby has not rolled at all and doesn't love tummy time too much. She is sitting pretty well and likes to Stand (being held). Neck and head very strong (was laredy from birth). Give it time it is still early.

Thank you, We ended up buying a bouncer and putting a pillow under it because it isnt low enough. He is holding his head up really well now, but he would much rather be on his back or being held. I'm not as worried now, thanks

cooper was born the 21st of nov...he has been rolling and holding his head very well....but my first son has a lil slow on the draw....he did not roll over untill he was 6 months old and didnt sit well on his own till he was almost 1. All kids are so diffrent. There was nothing wrong with my oldest...but the doctor says a lot of second born kids do things faster because they see there older sibling doing it. I know it sounds stupid but get on the floor and show him. Thats the only way we could get my oldest to crawl...was to get on our fours and crawl around. Everything is fine

Yeah those things like a walker or exersaucer or jumparoo are really good for learning how to hold themselves up. My son has always held his head up good, but I put him in the walker and at first he would fall over, but literally after a week he was sitting in it so much better.

Thanks guys, thats helps. I bought a jonny jumper but it doesnt fit on any of our door jams, and we have kind of a small house so we are thinking about not getting a bouncer at all because of the amount of space it takes up, still not sure about that one either.

i wouldnt be too worried, like jennifer said babies develop different. ours just now at 5 months will roll on her own alot. she was doing it when she was born but in that 5 months maybe did it 2. now she does it all the time. she also just recently started holding her head up while on her belly for long periods. ours will only sit in something for a little bit and she will fuss. have you tried a bouncer? like one that has a circular bottom with a tray and a seat that spins that has lots of toys on it? ours is beginning to like that now longer. or we got her a walker and put some of her toys on it and it has some already on there. she will sit there for awhile and play.

but i wouldnt be too concerned. some babies develop faster in some areas. like with ours theres things shes advanced in some shes not.

All babies develop at different rates. I wouldn't necessarily say boys develop quicker than girls. I know my uncle was walking at 9 months yet my mam didn't walk until she was 13 months.

My son has never rolled from back to front or vice versa either. He rolls from back to side or front to side though. But even though lots of people on here say their baby's have rolled that early...they aren't actually supposed to roll until around 7 months.

Do you give him much timmytime? My son hates it but his head control is very good and he can sit in his highchair no problem. How much does he spend sitting, either on your knee or in the bumbo as increasing this will strengthen his neck muscles further. If he spends the majority of his time sitting down he won;t be working thr neck muscles.
