My daughter is currently in size 1 Pampers swaddlers. She is too big for newborn, but I'm wondering if she is in between the sizes because every time she poops it just leaks out!!! All over her clothes and her back..it's gross! I'm wondering if maybe Pampers are just too lose around the sides and if Huggies (or any other brand) would be better for her.

My son is 9 wks and he is in pampers n he is in size 2 but they r big on his and the size one were gettin too small but n e ways we put him in pampers size 2 so he can grow into them.....if u pull the little flaps out of the side of the diaper where her lil thighs are it should help....we use pampers swadlers becuase they feel like a blnket material and he sleeps better. and they also soak things up more but if that dont wrk try lookin for those plastic diaper cover things idk if they hve them but im 19 and my mom said they had them bk then but im not sure and u can also try putting a non disposable diaper over top of her other diaper that will really help.....ik boys are different but it happens to him sometimes too ive ben pooped n peed on with the huggies so we went to pampers.....parents choice i wuldnt get or the dollar store ones b/c they are hard on the inside n might irritate her,,,,,well GOOD LUCK hope it helps congrats on ur little beautiful bundle of joy!!!!

pampers work the best for my daughter. the huggies just don't fit right around her legs and pee has leaked out.

personally i like huggies much better! they fit my son better than the pampers, its all personal preference and what seems to work for you. the huggies also have a little flap in the back that is supposed to help keep that from happening! good luck!

My son does the same thing, I loved the feel of pampers, i thought they were softer and better for his bum. He would also leak out the side and up the back too. I switched him to huggies and have not had a problem since! Bonus: more coupons for huggies are in the paper!

well I'm a first time mom and my babys daddy doesn't know how to figure out if shes wet without undressing her so the silly line is a great help to us! Sorry we're not all so perfect when it comes to babies.

The blue line is unnecessary in my opinion. All I need to do to see if she has peed is to pat her bottom to feel the diaper. It's obvious by touch if the diaper is wet or not, even with just a small amount of urine. I don't have to undress her to look at a silly line.

Pampers Swaddlers are the best! My LO loves them too. We tried the Huggies but she didn't like them at all so we went back to the swaddlers....the BLUE line is a bonus! :0)

I love the Pampers Swaddlers also. My daughter is finally too big for newborn, but the size 1 Pampers need to be cinched fairly tight. Both tabs usually meet and touch in the center. On a rare occasion, she will leak, but it is a rarity.

I prefer Huggies over Pampers, but we have using the Fisher Price diapers that I got on sale at BRU on Black friday and I really like them. She has never leaked while wearing them.

It has been my experiment since before day 1 to figure out which brand would be best for my son (for the gift registry & the rest of the first year w/him). My friends that have girls all recommended Pampers Swaddlers...they offered the best leak protection (at least in the middle of the diaper). Contrarily, my friends that have boys recommend Huggies (not sure if there was a particular series in this brand) because of the leak protection in the front of the diaper. After having used both, I liked that they both offered a series w/a urine indicator. An aunt w/3 kids, both genders, thought Luvs were the best & cheapest. MY opinion was hard to form because my son, still small for his age (2 1/2 mos.), initially leaked in Pampers until we figured out the proper combination for placement (see Cassondra Monique's reply) & of course, the correct placement of MY son's penis. This DOES, oddly, vary from boy to boy. Because of this, it's even harder to figure out which diaper is best. I have looked at gDiapers, especially since I pass about 3 different H-E-B's on my way to & from work, but the thought of having my hands that close to an explosive diaper just so I can flush it down the toilet makes me gag beyond belief. It's a great idea, though.

So, try repositioning the diaper, check for fitting 1 finger in the front of the diaper, try redirecting the penis on boys, & try a different size if necessary before switching brands if there's something you like about a particular one.

My baby is 10 weeks n I found Pamper to be better for him he messes out the side of the Huggies when he has a BM, they aren't snug enough to his legs, also don't like that they gont have the wet alert like Pampers line change color! Pampers has been great for us!

leaks just happens when the diaper is too lose for the baby. To avoid this, make sure that when you buy a diaper it surely fits to your daughter. I used pampers to my son and i never encounter this kind of leak problem.

I've been using Huggies Newborn for my little one (she's still only about 8.5 lbs) and they have been awesome. Not even one leak. I did have a friend who complained about leakage but after watching her put a diaper on her little one I realized she wasn't putting it on tight enough. Once she tightened it she stopped having leaks with her Huggies. The nurse at the hospital said to use the one finger rule, where you shouldn't be able to get more than one finger in at the top. Also, be sure they are higher in the back than in the front.

I have used both and love the pampers swaddlers but my inlaws have bought us cases of Huggies to use. I find the Huggies run smaller than the Pampers swaddlers. I didn't like the Huggies at first but they have grown on me, although I still prefer the Pampers. Since the Huggies run smaller, my son will grow out of what we have faster.

i found that huggies are too small for my lil man and they leak really bad...luvs are the worse tho...pampers are greart if you can find the baby-dri in size one cause they are less bulky then the swaddlers when they want to wiggle everywhere.

when you put on the pampers hold them tight because i tried Huggies and it gave her a rash but just make sure it held tight because if its exploding diarrhea then it might leak but if its just poop maybe its the pampers try another brand

Definitely agree with Diana. Higgies is no good! Although that used to happen to me when my son was in size 1 swaddlers too. I just adjusted the way i closed his diaper (bring as high up as possible, and fasten a little bit tighter) and viola! no more poopy explosions!

I use Pampers Swaddlers and love them, but now my son too must be in-between sizes. He is 12# 13oz. I bought Luvs size 2 today and they are too big (12-18#) so I'm going to get the Luvs for 12-14#. Also heard that for a girl Target brand held up for leak protection so I might try them for my son. Huggies are too big in the leg for my son. Good luck! PS Luvs is money back guareentee which is why I tried them.

I've mostly used Huggies Pure and Natural. In the beginning I had a lot of Pampers Swaddlers as well (as gifts). But Pampers don't have the elastic in the back so I don't like them.

Since I had my baby I've only have one incident where poop came out the back of her diaper. I don't know which diaper brand I was using. But even if it was the Huggies Pure & Natural, that is a good track record - only one time!!

Huggies Pure & Natural are very soft. I love them. My baby is just over 2 months old and in size 2 of these diapers. Never had diaper rash. Just a bit of redness a couple times but Butt Paste took care of it.

I personally think it depends on the baby, my 2 month old can't use Huggies she's allergic to them. My 1 year old was a 2lb preemie, when I bought him home @ 4lbs they broke him out but now he can use them...I now use Pampers on the baby and Huggies on the 1 year old...Go figure!!!!! Good luck and Happy Diapering

You might try gdiapers. I have NEVER had a leak issue with my LO and he is a pro at filling his diaper. I was a nanny and a preschool teacher for years and haven't found diapers that work better than these. You should watch the youtube video ion how to put them on the right way but other than that...

They also have the added bonus of being TOTALLY BIODEGRADABLE and CHEMICAL FREE. Diapers like Pampers and Huggies use chlorine and other toxic chemicals. They also take over 500 years to biodegrade. Can you imagine how many diapers in landfills that is? Plus, why put chemicals on your precious childs bottom if you don't need to?

lol - sorry to get on a soapbox I get excited:)

i like pampers because they are soft, however, when my LO has a wet one, it soaks through onto her clothes. Huggies doesn't do that, and so I think huggies is better.

We use Huggies from birth. We were out once and got a pack of Pampers and they were constantly leaking! It hasn't happened to us in Huggies. We tried Sainsburry's own brand too - they're bit better than Pampers (not leaking), but stil pretty much rubbish.

I use Huggies size 1-2 for my 2 month old. I have always heard that Pampers held in messes better, but I have been quite happy with Huggies. I started using Huggies initially because of the newborn size that had the cut out part for the umbilical cord and have just stayed with them. This does however make me feel better about staying with Huggies.

[deleted account]

my 7 week old is in pampers swaddlers because they seem bigger than the huggies, but my 14 month old is in huggies size 2 (don't judge he was only 1 and a half pounds at birth) and they work great for him.

That happnens to me with Huggies! I don't like Huggies at all. I love the Pampers Swaddlers. The Huggies seem looser around the legs and feel like paper towels. Not soft like the Swaddlers.
