Violent Toddlers

My son, now 2, is the only child. He doesn't go to day care, and doesn't have many opportunities to spend with other children his age. When he is among other kids, at play center or play ground, he takes away toys from them, wants to go on the swing or slide other child occupies (even if there is an empty one available right there!), pushes children, pulls their hair and pinches them. We do not condone violence in our household. We do not spank or hit him, and we (the parents) do not hit each other. We try to teach him "sharing" and "be kind". At our 2 year appointment, the pediatrician said that 2 year-olds are self-centered, it is all about "ME ME ME". He said all those behaviors are normal, until they do not go away by 2.5 years or 3 years of age. I am still a bit concerned, and wonder if other toddlers exhibit such behaviors, and how their parents deal with that.
Thanks a lot!

well, all i can say is i know how ya feel. My husband has always been a BIG wrestling fan. him and his mom always watched the pro wrestling together and so he say him and his son will always watch together and that was fine untill our now almost 2.5 year old started trying to do the moves he saw on monday night on me. and the few other kids he does get to play with. but luckily we figured out as well as did he, that it is much easier to play "wrestling" with a stuffed animal.

The best advice I could give is to try and make time for him to socialise more. The only way he'll learn to share is by being around other children. My son started daycare two days a week in September and has went to mother and baby groups since 6 months old. I thinkt his is why so far we've had no problems with him sharing. He has started asking "why?" to everything now though haha
