doctor said i dont need a 8-9 week ultrasound for the second baby

There is no reason for an 8 week ultrasound. I had one with my last pregnancy because I had a premature baby but I miscarried that one. We had one with this one because I had a premature baby and only one period since my miscarriage. I didn't have an ultrasound until 18-22 weeks with my first 4 children. If you want an ultrasound just tell the doctor that you are unsure of the dates. Your partner won't be missing out. They will get to see the ultrasound at 18 weeks and they can hear the heart beat until then.

I would look up free clinics to get ultra sounds I did that and most have earn while you learn classes. Its really nice I go there for the classes and all that while I go to my doctor for all other things.

I am so sorry you guys that have to wait so long to get one and especially Danielle that you will prolly only get one... I brought up to my ultrasound tech that I was thinking about doing the 4d ones, and she told me not to waste my money bc I'd be in there every few weeks. Too bad you guys cant have the same treatment.

This is my second baby and am disappointed that I wasn't able to get an ultrasound at the first visit this time around. I will not have an ultrasound until I am 18-20 weeks. They place I am having to go to doesnt have the equipment and will not send me out to get one until then. I am not happy about it but I am waiting on my insurance to kick in.

I'm from BC and we don't get any ultra sound until 19-20 weeks. Usually that is the only one unless there are issues and another one needs to be done. I have already heard the heartbeat with the dopler machine. Just thought I'd let you know.

thank you for all your advice, i went and saw another doctor today and she said i can get an ultrasound, yeay, im booked in to see my bubby on the 23rd of this month, im so happy, and so is my partner as this is his first pregnacy, thank you so much for your advice and this doctor i saw today im going to keep seeing her, i have seen her before and as ive moved back into the area i forgot she was around until i rang the doctors surgery this morning and she was still there! so excited, hope everyones ultrasound comes out great...

Well I have been waiting to hear from a midwife, my doctors apparently haven't even bothered refering me so I took myself up the hospital earlier and spoke to someone there. I'll be 8weeks on sunday and I'm having my scan on Monday now...... if you can then go to the hospital and voice your concerns.

I would just want to make sure there is actually a baby in there (sometimes people have false pregnancies or even lose a baby and not even know about it) and that it has a heart beat. I am a bit shocked that your doctor doesn't want to see you until 18 weeks and I'm sure he will see you if you just ask.

u should always get a scan between 8-12 weeks to make sure the baby is ok and that your due date is correct, i think you should see another doctor im in my 8th week of pregnancy and cannot wait for my 12week scan, good luck hope u get your scan

my first appt. is tomorrow. and I'm having an ultrasound. it's my 4th child. they check the spine and heart and general size to make sure everything's good and to make sure you're due date is accurate. I'd talk to your doct again.

This is my second but they are still doing the ultrasound at 8 weeks. Not sure why your doctor doesn't want to. They usually check the sac around the spinal cord at this point to make sure its developing correctly. I would voice your opinion and if they refuse to do one when you ask, I would find another doctor.

Ask the doctor if you could have one as you're a worrier and you want to put your mind at rest. If he says no then I would see someone else. I've not experienced this as it's my first preganancy but if you want a scan I think you're well within your rights to ask for one. When I first saw the doctor about being pregnant I wasn't happy with the way the doctor treated me so I told reception and said I would like to see another doctor - I had to wait until the next day for an appointment but I was glad I did and that I had made it clear I was unhappy.
