Home birth/Hospital birth

Right from the beginning I've wanted a home birth but been talked out of it by a ot of people as it's my first baby. However some people have been extremely supportive recently, especially my partner and I'm now 99% sure it's what I want. I know I'll be more comfortable and the hospital is just two minutes away just incase. I haven't spoken with my midwife about it yet but don't think she'll be very supportive. Has anyone had any experience of home birth they can share with me? Any advice, tips, etc wanted please - even if you've had bad experiences it would be helpful to me in making a decision.... thanks in advance xx

Thanks Felicia. Sorry you weren't able to have your home birth, hopefully my lil one will behave and allow me to be able to have him delivered at home x

I was 19 with my first and decided to have a home birth. My mom and best friend were the only ones supportive of the idea. My best friend at the time had delivered her son at home about a year earlier and I was using her midwife. I had complications and the labor just wasn't progressing well so I gave in and went to the hospital. This was solely because my husband at the time was very scared that something was wrong and I needed him calm for delivery. I think it's a wonderful idea ... go for it! I wish I could have been able to deliver at home ... I have too many complications to allow anything other than hospital deliveries at this point.
