We've always given our son a bath every day, as part of his bedtime routine. He loves it. We don't use soap very often and give him a massage with lotion afterwards.

Every 2 to 3 days is ok. You don't want to dry their baby skin.

@ Linda T, my opinion is that unless you are using soap not intended for babies, or you have a baby with lots of excema, or your bub doesnt like bathing, once a day is not too much :)

My son is five months and he gets a bath every night as it is part of his bedtime routine! I find it helps him sleep through the nights! Although when he was a NB he was bathed about every other day! He enjoys his bath time so that helps!

We started twice a week when she was born but now bathe her every other day? My girlfriend whose daughter is the same age only bathes her a couple times a week and uses wash cloths the other days. Maybe we bathe her too much?

I give my little guy a bath every other night-every 2 nights. Just depends on what s going on. Like pictures, if he poops out of his diaper, etc.. He's a big guys so I do wipe his neck under his little roll of a chin a few times a day. I also use a gently all natural soap and lotion. I also use a little lansinoh around his chin and corners of his mouth since he drools a lot and has been getting a rash.

I bathe my 4 month old every other night. As long as you are applying lotion 2 times a day like recommended you don't have to worry about drying out their skin, and you can even put a little baby oil in the bath for added moisture. On the off nights I just wipe her messy spots with a warm wash cloth, she's usually pretty yucky under her neck from her bibs and spit up.

my bub is 4 months old and since the third week we wash him every night, either by a shower with mum or dad, or a bath with big sister. He absolutley loves the sensation of the water running on him, and he seems to know just what is happening next, eg: big before bed feed, then bed, sleeps for 10-14 hours a night since 3 weeks old. Routine certainly works for me and my son, and sometimes doesnt work for other bubs...but even at such a young age, i am sure that my bub knows what is happening next due to our routine, and he rarely crys unless he has tummy pain maybe once a week.

I bathe her every 2 or 3 days, because i've noticed her skin is dry, unless she has an incident where she poops up her back or something lol, then its whenever she needs it as well lol

Before my daughter's cord fell off, i gave her a bath every other day. Now i give her a bath every single day, she knows already (shes 4 months old) that when i give her a bath and put her pjs on, that it's time for a bottle and bed. I give her a bath right before and it seems like it calms her. Her bed time is between 6 and 8 p.m and she'll sleep all night long, sometimes she wakes up about 4:30 a.m but if i were you i would bathe your child every day, to prevent them from smelling like spoiled milk because it gets trapped under their neck.

I usually give her a bath every couple of days. I change her clothes and sponge bathe on in between days, sometimes it helps her sleep better.

When my son was born I woud give him a bath every 2-3 days, I was told by family only to bath him a couple times a week. Sometims I go 4 days without bathing him cause I forget. They dont need a bath everyday, I agree that they need heir natural oils of their skin to protect from dryness. Lotion also helps A LOT. :)

Doctors say that once a week is enough, and too often isn't good for the baby's skin, but my midwife said if they like it and you use only water (and maybe give your child a massage with almond oil afterwards, it can be a great ritual to end the day and help the baby sleep.

i bath my daughter one a week because if u bath them too much they lose the oil off their skin and i think its too cold to bath them too often

I give my son a bath every night as part of his bedtime routine, though I don't always use soap. Every other day I use soap, unless he happened to puke on himself A LOT that day (he has reflux). I use lotion on him every night too and his skin is nice and soft.

We give our baby girl a bath every other day to every 3 days. As long as they arent too dirty the doc says they can go every 3 days.

Babies really don't get dirty, and they need thier skin oils, so I only bathed my daughter when she was newborn once or twice a week, and only ever in warm water. Now, at 22 months she has a bath every day, but still has only ever been washed in warm water. She glows with health, smells yummy and her hair is exactly like silk!

I give both of my children a bath every other day, unless they need one for a certain reason (play outside, got dirty, poop/food mess, etc). My son is only a month old, my daughter is 5. My daughter has never had a problem with dry skin, and I think it's because I don't bathe her daily. Also, I slather them in lotion while they are still wet, it makes for soft sweet skin :)

Do what ever fits in to your life. You can bath them everyday and if they get dry skin you can put baby lotion on them (or sorbolene). Or you can sponge bath them when needed. Our baby was born with a big gash on her head so we were told not to bath her until it was healing, so she was covered in the birth crap for the first 6 days of life. My first daughter used to poo through her nappies and clothes all the time so some days she was getting two baths a day. Our son got eczema when we used baby bath stuff in his baths but we found a soap alternative and his eczema went away.

I hope this has helped you.

Newborns? 2 times a week. And if you prefer when they're newborns you can just spongebath them. I bathe Hannah twice a week in an infant bathtub. I put the soap on the washcloth rather than making her a baby bubble bath because her brother has eczema and I'd like to avoid her getting it too. He's 17 months old and needs a bath at least every other day but I only use soap every other bath. Sounds gross but that's what his doctor told me to do to help with the eczema and he was right, soap does dry out their little sensitive skin.

Depends on age...I read somewhere (babycenter.com probably) that you're not supposed to bathe until the cord stump falls off...Until then, just wipe the important areas (ie: neck, face, hands, feet, genitals) with a soaped washcloth.
With my first, I washed her neck twice a day for the first month because we didn't know she was lactose intolerant at first...
You can always ask her doc what s/he recommends too.
