My friend's baby (sept 24) is walking everywhere! and Mine (sept 15) is standing on everything but has aboslutely so urge to try walking. If we grab her hand or stand her up so picks up her feet so she can sit and crawl! Does anyone have ideas for how to help her walk on her own (never used a walking ring) Is everyone else's baby walking?

My baby girl was born September 25th and is just like yours. She stands up and if we try to help her walk she immediately sits and strts crawling instead. My first baby started walking(more like running) when he was 14 months so i am not worried about it. She will walk when she is good and ready. There is nothing wrong with your baby, all babies are different and have their own pace.

She will walk when she is ready! :) Some babies walk as early as 8 months - some don't walk until they are 18 months. There is nothing wrong with them walking at a later age. Enjoy her being a baby for as long as you can, it goes by too too fast! :)

Hey, don't feel bad at all! My little girl isn't even crawling yet and she's almost 11 months! she's fairly mobile and will scoot about, but she gets frustrated. We have hard wood floors and she's hurt her head a couple times, so she's really cautious. i have heard many times that each kid has their own developmental path to follow! i'm positive your little one will walk when she's ready!

All babies start walking at different times, all the standing she is doing will be strengthening the muscles in her legs, and when they are strong enough she will start standing without holding herself up and work on her balance... and then she'll be off!
Dont stress about it, she will do it soon enough!

My son Jaxson started walking along furniture at 9 and a half months he took time with that about 2 and a half months. He was walking at 12months old and now hes 14 months born (Sept. 28th) trying to run around lol. We didnt use a walking ring or anything, we just held his hand a lot and helped him along or sat on the floor while he was standing or walking with the furniture and highly encouraged him to come to us and sometimes used his fav snacks like those freeze dried yogurt bites and he one day just walked right to me for them! Try encouraging your baby or showing them a reward/snack but sit like 2 feet from them.. Keep moving back as they get better at it thats what i did and now i cant seem to even get Jaxson to sit, in the grocery stores he refuses to sit in the carriage anymore.... he needs to be walking holding me or his dads hand or pushing the carriage lol.. It just takes time and patience. :)

My son (December 11th) is standing on his own...but has no desire to really take steps on his own yet. He loves to cruise around furniture though!! My niece just gave me one of those stand and walk things and he loves that. I think he will just walk when he is ready. It does no good to compare your baby to another's as, like everyone is saying, each baby develops differently. My eldest son didn't walk until he was about 15 months but he is running around like a crazy child today ;)

my lil girl was born on the 24th as well and IS NOT walking yet. She knows I want her to walk and she wants nothing to do with it!!! She also will try anything to sit or crawl when I go to stand her up although she loves to walk with her walker and does it like a pro!! I have an 8 yr old boy who was walking at 10 months, and a 5 yr old girl who waited until she was 14 months. I guess we just have to wait!

My son- who was born Sept 3rd, started walking in the beginning of August.. so he was 11 months. But every babe is different, so I wouldn't worry! Both of my nieces didn't start walking until 15-16 months, and their doc said they were just being lazy! Crawling was so much easier, and faster! :) My little guy loved just pushing his activity walker around. He never liked the actual walkers..and would just sit there and cry.. but the one to push- he loved, and I really think it helped get him going. Good luck! :)

.my little girl; born nov 13th of last year was walking by 8 months.
but ALL babies are different, so i wouldnt be discouaged if youres doesnt walk at the exact same times as your friends.
i have a friends that had a baby the day after mine, and if you set my baby and hers side by side; you would think mine is months ahead. but its normal for some babies to take their time learning new things.
:) enjoy the not having to chase after them while it lasts.

My son used one of those toys that you walk behind and push, he started using it at 6 months and starting walking a 9 months he is all over the place now, but I think it helps that he has his brothers that he trys to run after. Maybe try one of them. Good luck and remember every child is different : )

His brother started walking at 8.5months! which is stupidly early. and he has always dont things early. Where as jude seems to be taking his time a bit more. He has just this last wee or so started to pull himself up using any table chair or toy he can find and has today learned to get up the stairs!!! scary! but still no sign of him wanting to walk anywhere. His little cousin is 1 in january and it walking around furniture all the time! and it looks soooo weird because he is so dinky! I guess all babies are different. x

she might not be comfortable with falling hold her up and practice her balance and then let go so she gets use to falling down then after she gets the hang of it have one person sit across from you and let her try walking back and forth with you

My son didn't start walking till he was 13 months and I have other friends whose children didn't start walking till 16/17 months :-) Instead of using a walking ring, how about a walker that she can walk behind and push?

My 11 month old has not started walking on his own yet. He just walks along furniture and I think its so cute how he wants to let go and take steps by himself but is too scared. I really want him to walk already and try to help him but what ive learned is that babies will do it when they are ready. So I'm just waiting peacefully :)

My baby boy was walking by 9 months. I don't think there is really anything *special* to do to help them walk other than encourage them and let them know you are proud of their trying. If babies know they are making mommy and daddy happy, they try harder to please. With my LO we helped him walk/stand and set up obstacles with cushions and such for him to climb on... but thats about it. each baby is different and it is not uncommon for babies *especially boys* to walk until 12-14 months! Just let your babe know you are proud of all their trying!

Yeah, Laura I know how you feel! My daughter will be 1 on the 20th and can walk around holding onto things, she stands for like 10-15 seconds by herself, and has good balance (when she has her hand on a wall or table!), but she won't just walk! I am also getting tired of people asking if she's walking yet! It's like she'll walk when she walks! LoL. She is also "advanced" in other areas. She can say a lot of words, she understands a lot of what her dad and I say, and she is very capable of other things that most kids her age can't do. That's why I'm not too worried about her not walking yet! It'll happen soon!

My little one will be 1 on the 15th and isn't walking yet. She stands a lot and does some cruising but doesn't seem interested in walking yet. My son on the other hand was walking at 10mo. They're all different and she seems "ahead of the curve" in other areas. I'm just tired of everyone asking me if she's walking yet. Oh well, she will. :)

My daughter Briella is 11 months and isn't walking yet. She stands by herself, walks with us holding her hands, around the furniture and crawls up stairs but no walking. I have 4 boys that all walked between 8-9 months so I was surprised when she didn't but im in no rush. She gets into enough just with the crawling! lol

My daughter (sept 20) is doing the same thing as your daughter!! She will walk around while holding onto a table by herself though! Right now I think they're just not motivated to take on such a tough task! See I would like to brush up on my Spanish. (I took 3 years in high school, but don't remember much!) However, I just keep speaking English because I'm not ready to take on the challenge yet!! So I feel the kids' pain!! LoL.

my feeling is i wouldnt be too worried about it. they are all individuals and something like this should happe they are showing signs of readiness. best to not see it as a competition. It certainly sounds like she is heading in the right direction. My bubba is 9 months and has strong little legs he can now walk when one of his hands are held and has used his walker to walk unassited now. He loves being on his legs but has just recently sussed out crawling. I know once he can walk he will run and then i will be in trouble lol

my daughter started walking at 10 months and it only took two weeks for her to get it down. they do it on their own pace so if your holding her hand and she doesn't seem interested don't force it. she'll do it when SHE'S ready. good luck hun. if she starts acting more interested put a toy across the room and try having her walk to it. it'll help motivate her, but again don't force it. only when she's ready

Dont panic :D my first didnt walk until 15 months - and now at 21months runs everywhere lol my second is 10 months and is furniture walking, with a couple of independant standings (very proud of himself!) so it wont be long until they are running around together! just enjoy the time if your baby isnt walking by 18months then I would begin to think about possible issues but even then it may not be an issue (I have a friend who had twins that didnt walk until 21 and 23 months - and are absolutely fine) just relax and enjoy it once they are walking they are no longer babies which is a little sad but exciting at the same time as they are at the next level :D

They all just take off at their own pace. So relax and enjoy this time. Both of mine started walking at 9 mos. but I've been told thats rare. The more they seemed to stand themselves up without help the faster they seemed to want to walk around the sofa, etc.as they held onto something for support. Then standing without support. then they just took off and never stopped. Now they are into everything! I did use a jumperoo once a day prior, but it only allows bouncing. As I said, they will take off when their little muscles are ready.

Don't worry hun! It's not that big of a deal. My daughter [Sept 17] started rolling over in Dec 2010, then she started crawling & standing in May 2011. She attempted to takes steps, but didn't start walking until mid-July. Some babies get it faster than other. But it's not a big deal. I worked at a daycare and we had kids who didn't start walking until 18months! I'd say that's the time to be worried, but even still, some kids just take a little longer. The fact that she is standing is already a start. Once your LO realizes walking is faster than crawling, NOTHING will stop her. :D

My LO has been running around but only if he has something to hold on to (the couch, his walker he pushes around), hes just starting to stand by his self with no hands when hes not paying attention to realize what hes doing for 30 seconds or so before he starts to wobble. But he loves pushing his walker around the livingroom! Wont sit in it but @least he still uses it.

My little man is 10.5 months and has been walking since 9 months 2 days would have been walking earlier but he didnt like falling so he didnt walk until he was sure he could walk and he walked a metre first time, he now runs everywhere. My mum's partners twin neices were not walking at 13 months not sure if they are now (they are now 15 months) I also have friends whose bub's didn't start walking til around a year old. It all just depends on the baby when they are ready but don't stress still plenty of time. 9-11 months is early for a bub to walk pretty sure 12-14 months is the norm but not to sure as I only have one child.
