Why wont my baby sleep through the night anymore?

My son, who will be a year come sept 22, is having a hard time sleeping through the nights. He use to sleep right through without a peep but for the last couple months now he wakes and will not go back to sleep unless I give him his bottle. I have tried letting him cry, but only sometimes does this work. I am due with my second child at the end of October and really don't want to be up with two babies in the night! Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do to help my baby sleep through the night!?!

Hi Jessica! My baby is doing the same... I also need help. The difference is that Gabriel sleeps in his crib in our bedroom, we did not move him to his own bedroom yet. I know from some friends experience that its good to do the sleep training so they learn to sleep through the night... But I am a bit unsure about it and really need guidance on this as well. Anybody can help us?

I am no expert, but I would guess he's teething, going through separation anxiety or he think that he needs a bottle to go back to sleep. Does he go to sleep during the day without being bottle-fed or nursed? If not, I'd work on that, since that skill may transfer over to nighttime. My son uses a spit rag (clean) by his face and pacifier to put himself to sleep.

LauraBeth, thanks for the post. I am hoping that it goes back to normal sooner than later lol! and hopefully your little one starts to sleep better for you too!

sounds like he is just going thru a growth spurt, should go back to normal soon, mine on the other hand doesnt sleep thru the night never really has lol
