What did/do you do to prepare the older children for the arrival of two (or more) babies?

My daughter will be 3 right around the time our twins arrive. We just keep talking about how she will have two baby brothers or sisters to play with instead of just one. We also plan to include her in the process so she feels like a part of the experience and will not feel "replaced" by the babies. She is a wonderful helper so I know if I give her tasks to help with when the babies arrive that she will be wonderful with it. We also have a plan for after the babies arrive to take turns with the babies so that she has some one on one time with mommy and daddy. Life should be exciting!!

With our 3 year old, we made him a part of the process. He went to the sonograms and he heard the babies heartbeats and got to feel them kick and he even helped set up their nursery. Our almost 1 year old wasn't really all that aware, we just made sure he was loved and made a promise to ourselves to not let our attention get completely focused on the twins so that we could still give our toddler the attention he deserved.
