I have a friend who had a water birth and it was a wonderful experience for her, her husband, and their baby boy...If I didn't have a family history of medical problems I seriously think I would be open to trying it. The only thing I am going to recommend is that you don't do like some of the mothers on the tlc special they did about home births. Most of the women that they featured had not had proper prenatal care, so they didn't know if they were at high risk for labor complications. They also didn't seem to have nearly as wonderful experience as my friend.

My first birth allowed you to labor in the jacuzzi tub but didn't have water birthing options and there are none up where we live now for our births after that. But totally, if you have that option near you, I would do it in a heartbeat!! I have a friend who has had all three of her girls water birthing!!

i had a water birth and it was brilliant! getting into the water reduced my pain by about half, and the weightless feeling is great, the best thing was because it such an effective pain relief - i didnt need any of the harsh synthitic drugs. i'm doing it again this time would definatly reccommmend it

i felt the same when i was having my second what they didn't tell me was that it takes at least half hour to fill the birthing pool so by the time they had filled it my son was here. i think it's great if you feel thats best for you just get them to fill the pool in plenty of time to avoid disappointment

That's awesome that your feeling great and everything is going well, i remember being at that stage and I was feeling like crap haha.

I didn't have a water birth but I was in the shower a lot, the hot water seemed to help me a lot and I would have got in a bath if I had one in my room!

My hairdresser had a water birth and she said as soon as she got into the water she was calmer, less pain and it felt a lot better.
