I am 28 weeks and i keep having like a pain/ tightening feeling that really hurts above my pelvis...i'm guessing its my uterus, but i dont know what a contraction feels like bc i have never had a kid before. How do you know if it's a fake contraction or not?

I have had early contractions with my 1st son and my pregnancy now. My first son was a preemie because I went into early labor. You know if it is a contraction because your stomach will feel rock hard but it doesn't always have to hurt. You may even feel a growing feeling like your stomach is swelling as it gets harder then relaxing or shrinking as the tightening goes away. If it is contractions right down when they come on. If its random times and not every so many minutes than its not as bad but definitely talk to your doctor about it. The worst ones are the ones that come at a constant time (like every 20 minutes) that's just an example they could be farther apart or closer together but you should definitely be persistent with your doctor. Sometimes they tend to think we mothers (especially new mothers) are just being paranoid, but 2 days after they took me off the meds they were giving me so I wouldn't go into early labor I had my son.
