I was wondering how long it usually takes for labor to approach when you are 50% effaced. I am 37 weeks according to the doctor, but I think they are a week to 2 weeks off. I just found out that my daughter is stationed very, very low that I am 50% effaced and about 1 cm dilated. I know I am soooo ready to meet my baby girl. Does anyone have any ideas? I know you can't exactly pinpoint when a delivery date is going to be, but I am looking for some insight.

I just had mt daughter five days ago, Wednesday. The friday before that, the doc said I was 3cm and 50%. I walked like 100 circles in my backyard (big backyard) the night before I went into labor. Woke up at 7:30 that morning to go pee and lost my plug. Started having contactions ten minutes later. I was still at 3cm when I reached the hospital but after he broke my water and gave me some medicine to make my uterus contract, it went quickly. I was only in labor for 12 hours and this was my first baby. Only pushed for ten minutes. So, my advice, walk walk walk. Stay active, but not over active. You'll need energy for when you do go into labor. And you may be different, and stay that way for weeks, I've heard that happens a lot. But for those people saying walking doesn't do anything.....they're lying or don't know what they're talking about. Whether walking helps you dialate or not, it helps your hips widen and loosen up to get ready for that watermelon to come out of yor vag. So either way, you're helping yourself out. Good luck(:

I was between 1- 3 cm dilated and 50%- 70% effaced for 4 weeks with my son. They kept telling me that I wouldn't make it to the next weeks appointment, they induced me. With my daughter I was 1-3 cm and 50% effaced for 3 weeks. Ended up having a csection with her (for medical reasons). Expecting 3rd May 5th, (I also think my doctors are off by 2 weeks), This time I don't even want to know if effaced or dilated. I figure she will come when she is ready, hoping for a vbac so I hope she comeson her own!! Good Luck, you are so close!!!

Heck, I couldn't even pinpoint when my son was going to be born, and I was INDUCED! He was born a day later than I thought he would be... didn't count on that long of labor because my mom never had more than 4 hours of labor with both her kids.

You should be meeting your little girl soon, so don't worry, and congratulations!
