I want to use a baby sling to tote my baby around instead of a heavy back breaking carrier. Has anyone used them and do you have any recomendations on a good one that is not to pricey.

From what I've heard/used, it really depends on the person, everyone will find different ones more comfortable. Amazon has "Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Solid Baby Carrier" That's the one that I've heard the best about, the way your wrap it around you/baby makes it so it doesn't put too much weight in one spot (that was my biggest issue, i got headakes when I wore a baby sling). The only thing is it might be a little hard to figure out how to hook it up.

we got a stroller that our son's car seat hooked into, and found that that worked the best for us (we couldn't find a sling that fit my husband who's home with our son all the time).

yeah i totally loved using a sling instead of the carseat!
For the first 3 months or so I used a moby wrap and a ring sling
after that, the Ergo came in quite handy! The thing is that inexpensive carriers often aren't built the same and thus arent comfy enough to use for more than 5 minutes.

If your baby is due in the fall or if you live somewhere where it's not hot in the summer, i suggest a moby wrap for the first few months! it goes over both shoulders and around your waist, so all the weight is distributed evenly and you can wear baby easily for hours!

For quick trips, a ring sling (over one shoulder) is nice

For after 3-4 months an Ergo baby carrier is fantastic! the difference between it an a bjorn or any other carrier you'll find at most stores is that it 1) has a waistbelt (so most of the weight is on your hips, not your shoulders/back) and 2) the baby doesn't hang from his/her crotch but rather sits with the fabric spread all the way to their knees, and it's much more comfy for them.

I suggest buying used carriers from diaperswappers. it's much cheaper than buying new and usually just as good!

I cannot wait to have my baby and start using a sling. I wanted one with my first but never ended up getting one. This time around I think I may be getting one at my shower, so I am super stoked (if not im totally buying one!!) So when it comes to doing dishes, walking around in the grocery store. So I would recomend instead of taking the car seat out of the car put the baby in a sling, a wonderful part as well of attachment parenting! however if the baby is sleeping might as well leave him/her in the car seat so he/she can snooze away.
