I am 29 weeks, i have severe braxton hicks after sex & during. they put me in fits, crying & unable to move. idk if they are normal but i feel your pain. hope everything goes well.

This is common. There is a chemical in semen that causes the braxton Hicks to avoid this from happening again don't let your boyfriend cum in you. Have him pull out. This should help!

The same thing happened to me. But I ended up going to the emergency room and at the following dr. apt. I found out it had actually sent me into early labor! I have been having actual early labor for a month now and been on bed rest. Not fun... you might want to ask your dr if you are dilating.

I am 31 weeks and have been having Braxton Hicks evertime after we DTD since I was 23w. At first we were really worried and as we are quite sexually active together it worried us even more and we thought to maybe take a break from the activity for a while. The Doctor checked to make sure they weren't dilating me and then gave us the okay. I still get them everytime and they last anywhere from 10 mnutes up to 3 hours one time, and can be a small as a tightening feeling to pain pulling from my back and hips all into the center of my abdomen where I can't stand it hurts so bad. My doctor says it is good to experience these strong bouts of braxton hicks as my body will be better prepared for labor when it really happens. He also said that things like sex only induce you into real labor when your body is ready and generally won't do that before 34 weeks. After 34 weeks they will let your labor progress on its own and let you have the baby naturally because they consider 36-40 weeks to be a full term baby.

Here's what my doc told me when I was having the same problem with my first. Doc said that there is actually a protein in semen that can cause contractions. I was told to try using condoms or the pull out method to deduce if this was the problem. Was also told that if that didn't work to try other ways to please eachother such as mutual masterbation or oral sex as it may be the penetration, and if this didn't work then it may be that the orgasm is causing the contractions and we may have to abstain from all sex acts until baby came. Luckily for us it was the semen that was causing contractions and we had no problems after that. Good Luck and if you are still nervous definitely ask ur doc. I know it can be embarrassing but well worth it if they can put ur mind at ease.

We just call it "Pumpkin protesting at having his space invaded! I started being scared to have sex - which was counter-productive! Actually anticipating the pain made it much much worse. I started looking at it a different way - and now my hubby works "twice as hard" to make any discomfort I feel afterwards, pretty much worthwhile! Also looking up some different more comfortable positions online helped - I discovered missionary is actually the worst!

If it's something that really concerns you call your doc, but my braxton hicks was worse than my labor in all of my pregnancies. I only have any kind of cramping after sex when I have orgasmed and then it's pretty rough. I do recall though the braxton hicks being so horrible doubled over in pain and cried. My labors were much better.

i get horrible cramps after sex, almost every time (i'm 24 weeks) but i wouldn't classify mine as braxton hicks, as they tend to be more around the hip bone area. NOT fun, i end up walking doubled over til the pass. :(

It usually happens if you have orgasamed . Orgasams can cause your body to release a hormone that causes your uterus to contract. I happened both in this pregnancy and my first...not that I got a lot of sex in either lol.... But if you are concerned you should definitely talk to your Dr. or even call your OB's office and talk to his/her nurse asap if you feel the need. I wouldn't be to concerned.
