bleeding while pregnant!

I understand this is an old post but maybe someone will read it and it will be helpful. Since I was 7 weeks after my fiancé and I had sex I would spot, called the doctor they said it was normal just not to have rough sex anymore. Well, this continued until I was a day before 12 weeks. We had sex and it wasn't necessarily rough, just quick. After we finished he ran into the bathroom and told me there was blood on him. I jumped up worried and as soon as I stepped into the bathroom blood began to run down my leg. It was dark red blood, period like. I was dropping all over the bathroom floor. You see, I had been paranoid since day one that I was having a miscarriage. Although this is my first baby and pregnancy I had just seen miscarriage everywhere and thus was terrified. I sat on the toilet and heard something drop into the toilet. My fiancé began to cry. I asked him to step out of the bathroom and give me a minute to cope. I had heard that sometimes in miscarriages it's common to pass the baby entirely. This is what I thought had occurred. As I sat up off the toilet, I saw a huge blood clot in the bottom. I scooped it out and three it in the sink. Went through it to make sure I wasn't flushing my baby down the toilet. It was just a huge blood clot. Nothing more. I jumped in the shower and cried for about 15 minutes because I knew know that I was having a miscarriage. My fiancé then told me we had to go the ER. We went to the ER where I cried as we sat in the waiting room for 7 hours only to get called back to the room and wait another 5 hours. Finally the doctor came in after my ultrasound (where the tech was silent and wouldn't answer any of my questions, and BTW had the speaker turned off do I heard no heartbeat) and said that the baby was fine! I was shocked. And relieved, we both cried and went home. Of course my doctor wanted to see me as soon as possible do we went there and they proceeded to give me another ultrasound where I saw my healthy little baby dancing around in my tummy with a heartbeat loud as ever. So don't always think the worst has happened. Pregnancy is a tricky thing and will drive you mad if you let it. I'm 15 weeks now :) good luck to all!!

Sweety I'm sorry your going threw this scarey time .. But to answer ur question yes there r women this happens to and things turn out fine... For myself I wasn't one of those women I lost my babies... Keep us posted hope things are just fine

im 9 weeks having a similar issue had sex with hubby night before went to prenatal appt an all was fine baby doin great he got heart beat..later on in the evening i started with brownish blood i new that wasnt a big deal but then it went bright red..OMG i was freaking out...i called dr and he put me on complete bedrest he took a scan of baby an couldnt get heart because the blood was just to much to even get threw to see the baby's heart beating..i started to cry..so i went home and ended up goin into the er the next day they couldnt get heart beat either ( SO IM NOT GETTING ANY REASSURANCES) it was to murky in there cuz of the blood but baby is still there an cervix completely closed dr at er said if im in fact having a threatened miscarriage that my hcg level are throwing him way off because my level were very high he said for being 9 weeks (im not further along i know the day and time we conceived)...anyt hing like this happen to you ladies i have never beent hrew this before an i am a mom of 5 healthy children this is baby 6 (i hope).. any thoughts?

i had a light bleed early on in pregnancy, all was well, just take it easy when ure canoodleing in the future lol

hey thankyou everyone that replied!my bleeding has stopped now i had my first scan on monday and everything is fine!the midwife did say that bleeding after sex is quiet common and to just try different postions and not to be so rough for the first 12 weeks!xx

I had bleeding with all my pregnancies..and lost all my pregnancies..Not tryin to worry anybody but everyone is different...BUT bleeding after sex is very normal. Your tissue is very soft and can cause bleeding. I have to agree with Libby..if you are having bleeding this early on after sex..it might not be so good..But I would change doctors and find someone who actually cares.

Yes i bled for 2 weeks heavy with two of my pregnancys and they were both fine. If you have no cramping chances are your ok. its hard not to worry because thats all i did for weeks until i found out. You could go to the hospital and ask if theyd do one for you. it's quite common to have a bleed in early pregnancy but still a worrying tme for us mums. Good luck with it.

i spotted a little at about 5 weeks. my doctor told me no sex for the rest of the trimester...just from a little spotting!! (my doctor is a little odd tho so im seeing a new one this week)

I'm glad everything is fine Nicola. However, if your doctor wouldn't see you, no matter if you were bleeding or just had a question, you need to change doctors!! I had a speck, and I literally mean a speck of blood when I wiped about 4 week ago and he had me in the office right away doing an ultrasound and an exam. Of course I have a history of bleeding during pregnancy BUT that is no excuse that your doctor doesn't treat you better than that. I could see if they couldn't fit you in one day but then ask you to come in the next or go to the ER or something. But I would not be comfortable with my doctor not taking my concerns seriously. I am really blessed to have a doctor that understands how very real my concerns are and quite honestly I know my body best. I may not know what is going on in there, but when something changes or happens, I know it. Bleeding can be normal and not be any concern, but you don't KNOW that until you find the source of the bleed. Whether it be old blood, broken capillaries in the cervix, the placenta, etc, etc. It can be soooooooo many different things. I hope you don't have to deal with that any more!

Im sry but i didnt. I had a miscarriage last yr. I bleed heavy and dark for a week until i went to the ER.
I didnt have sex just bc i kind of knew something was wrong.

BUT after sex can be normal. I bled once during sex with this pregnancy.
Bleeding can also be normal during pregnancy in the beginning, its called old blood.

Wish you lots of luck! If the dr doesnt seemed worried then i wouldnt worry too much.

I've always heard that if you're bleeding you need to see the doc asap. From what i've read it can be a sign of miscarriage, but I don't want to scare you, just see the doc asap

i had a light bleed about a week before and then i had 1 heavy bleed that only lasted about 5 mins and it was red blood i get no pain when i bleed and it doesn't last very long and has only happend once heavy!im feeling sick all day every day i don't know if this has anything to do with it either!

I can relate to this problem. I had spotting for weeks during the first trimester that could not be explained. It wasn't heavy bleeding though. I also had a hemorrhage at 14 weeks from internal bleeding between the wall of the uterus and the placenta. I was on bed rest for about 5 weeks until it started healing.



Is the blood red or brown? Brown is old, dried internal blood, and not usually that big a deal. Red is a bigger deal. Do you have cramps or pain of any kind? Cramping/pain often means miscarriage.



Sex or a vaginal doctor exam can often cause bleeding because your cervix is espeically tender and likely to bleed. I personally would hold off on intercourse/penetration until the bleeding is stopped.



Unfortunately, there is a lot of unexplained bleeding in the first trimester, and this is often a time for unexplained miscarriages. I know it's hard to wait, but sometimes only time will tell. I know how hard it is. I know many women who had significant bleeding throughout the pregnancy and went on to have healthy babies, but this early, it is hard to know.

Sex is good to bring on labor. However, if you're having complications from having sex so early on I would suggest abstaining if you are worried about it. If sex is causing complications so early on then please consider abstaining, atleast until later in the pregnancy where it would be ok if sex brought on labor. It obviously would NOT be good this early!

Im almost 9 months pregnant now. I had bleeding at the beginning of my pregnancy and I rushed 2 the hospital because I thought I was miscarrying. The DR said the baby was implanting itself. I had a lady tell me when I was there she had a incompetent cervix and they had 2 repair it and she delivered fine.Sex is actually really good to help with your labor unless advised otherwise by your Dr.

I have had bleeding in 2 pregnancies both that started after sex. One at 13 weeks and the other at 14 1/2. I had several ultrasounds in both of those pregnancies and the vaginal bleeding could never be explained. In both of these pregnancies it never truly stopped and I went back and forth being on bedrest. The 1st time I was off and on bedrest and then admitted to the hospital at 25 weeks and was there for 2 weeks. I then went into preterm labor that couldn't be stopped at 30 weeks. My son was born 10 weeks early. In the other pregnancy the bleeding got worse faster and ended up effecting the placenta. My daughter was still born at 20 weeks. I was not found to have any blood clotting problems or anything like that, so none of the bleeding could be explained.



Bleeding can be totally normal and sometimes even unharmful. I have also had pregnancies that I haven't had any bleeding. My first pregnancy was normal without any complications. My 2nd was the preemie and my 3rd was the stillborn both with bleeding. I'm on my 4th pregnancy and haven't had any bleeding problems but I've also obstained from sex immediately after I found out I was pregnant. Plus, I'm taking extra folic acid as well as one baby aspirin (usually for people with bleeding problems but since mine can't ever be explained my doctor said it can't hurt anything).
