This is my first pregnancy and my doctor thinks I'm farther along than he originally thought. I'm supposedly 30 weeks right now but I find out on Thursday through ultra sound if I'm really due sooner. I think I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions, but I'm not sure. I've never had what I'm feeling before so I don't really know. Can anyone describe what they feel like for me? Thank you!

i'm about 30 weeks also, they say you start having braxton hicks contractions around 6 weeks but you dont feel them until further along about 27 weeks, but not every woman feels them. for me my stomach feels really hard all over like knocking on wood, and they dont contract on a regular basis, i have however had real contractions where i need to go into the hospital 4 times now and get 3 shots of tributalean(a shot to stop preterm contractions) my real contractions dont hurt they just make my heart feel like its racing and someone is sitting on my chest like i can barely breath and that feeling starts happening before and during my real contractions and my stomach still gets hard as a rock, they say if you have more than 6 in an hour you need to call your doc or go to the hospital, so if you start having them look at the time and start counting how many you have even if you think they are just b. hicks contractions because i thought mine were just b. hicks the first time and turns out they were real contractions. i hope this helps and good luck!

I am 21 weeks today, they are normal, I never noticed them 10 years ago with my first pregnancy, but this one it was strange for me. The first time I had one was at 15 weeks and the second time was at 17 weeks.

Braxton hick is when you uterus contracts, it gets very tight kinda feels like a basketball. It is hard for me to explain how they feel mine were never painfull just a very tight feeling, it lasts a very short time then relaxes. I am in my 20th week of my fifth and last pregnancy we have 5 daughters and had to try once more for a boy, yay its a boy!!) and I have started feeling these maybe a week ago every now and then. If I remember right I started feeling them as early as 15-16 weeks in my other pregnancies. It's normal and just practice contractions for the real thing. If they become regular and are painful I'd check in with your doc. Congrats and good luck!
