there arent any blood banks or hospitals near me that will take the blood. i dont want it to go to waste because i know there are wonderful benefits for whoever gets to use it. i cant afford to bank it myself, so i really want to donate it. does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Have you asked at your local hospital? I was approached by the hospital research foundation while in the waiting room at my last appointment and was signed up to donate for research into future uses.

when i was looking into banking the cord blood it said that it really can't be donated because they can't find a close enough match outside of family... which seemed a lil odd to me cuz u can get blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants from total strangers... anyways... good luck!!

Here is a good website on donating cord blood. I wish I could afford to keep our babies too, but at this point it is too expensive for us. I am also thinking of donating and I think that this site really helped me! They also have a number to call to find a donation site. :-)
