drinking pop while breastfeeding

how much pop a day is okay while u breast feed? I was told I was fine while I am pregnant because if I stop I will have bad headaches but what bout while I breastfeed? what will the side effects be for the baby? what can happen if I choose to still drink pop while I breastfeed?

two caffineated beverages a day is what the docs say however, I cut down my coffee intake when I am pregnant and breastfeeding. I can drink a whole pot myself when I am not preggo or BFing but cut it down to 2 cups a day. I also love pop and I will drink 1 glass at dinner. along with my two cups of coffee a day. I think you and the baby will be fine as long as it is not like a whole 2 liter in one day.

too much caffeine can affect a newborn. they tend to cry more and be more irritable, sometimes have a heard time sleeping enough. caffeine also dehydrates you. if you can cut down to one glass a day or switch to decaf at least until the baby is older and can handle the caffeine.

well I am sure pop is not good and is wasted calories but it is my only addiction. I do not smoke or anything else so I cannot see a little pop hurting too much I will just make sure that I drink lots of water too and sweet tea has just as much caffein as a pop so if sweet tea is ok then why would pop not be it is the caffein that they stress about.

If you like drinking soda just like i did when i was prego and breastfeeding you just have to cut way back b/c to much soda,coffee,tea things like that make your baby very fussy and have tummy aches, if you have to have a soda drink at least 2-3 glasses of water after each one thats what i did and my baby was ok good luck

I drink caffeine free - caffeinated drinks have made me sick since early pregnancy. eat a little milk chocolate if you get a head ache it is less caffeine at least

well i know a lot of soda is not good during everyday life, and espically during pregnancy. its kinda like, giving a toddler a soda isnt a good idea cuz they will bounce of the walls, so you wouldnt want to give a baby in your belly a lot of soda either. i feel soda in general isnt good. its wasted calories and the carbonation takes the good calcium off of your bones. i'd rather have some good old sweet tea! about the breatfeeding, i'm not sure. i would definitally ask a doctor about this too, they know a lot more than me. but i hope i helped a little :]
