Just looking for support, I failed my glucose screening and have to go back for the three hour glucose tolerance test. I wouldn't be freaking out about this normally except that I already have gallstones which means I am already on a horrible diet. I am supposed to avoid animal fat and oils, which means no red meat or pork, no cheese or butter I can only have low-fat or non-fat milk, yogurt or cottage cheese, and I can only eat foods that have not been cooked with oils or butter! If I end up with gestational diabetes I will have to give up even more foods! It truly makes me want to cry! I have 12 weeks to go!

i am 35 weeks pregnet and i did my glucose at 28 and half weeks. they said i failed the 1hr glucose so i had to go back for the 3hr glucose. my score was 134. some drs. allow 140 as there high and some drs use 130 as their high. out of 4 drs. in my clinic mine was the only one that only accepted 130. i went back for the 3hr and they told me i failed. i was upset and didnt agree. it is my 3rd pregnancy and i didnt even have to do the 3hr with the other two. they told me i failed and i looked at my results only one blood drawing out of 3 exceeded the limit. the other two where just very close to the limit. so i went through seeing the diabetic specialist and nutrisinist and got my monitor. i was on a way strict diet of barely able to eat anything and the amount of what i could eat was very small. when i checked my blood sugar with my meter i noticed it always seemed low. so i ate how i normaly ate before the diet and my blood sugar was back in normal range. i showed my dr.. and talked to him about it and now i only check myblood sugar level 2x a day instead of 4x. which it dont really bother me. just in case thing. but i am allowed to eat whatever i want whenever i want. my dr. said i am not diabetic after all which i knew

Girl I am in exactly the same boat! I am 28 wks 5 days and just got my 3hr test results back this past friday. Everything was fine. In my case my doc told me I didn't have to fast before my 1hr test (and I haven't with either of my previous pregnancies) but I had an apple and a cup of coffee about 20 mins before test and I failed. Was really worried about the 3hr because diabetes runs in my family. But like I said everything was fine. So please, I know it's hard but try not to stress and take a few deep breaths. Good Luck Momma and please let us know how it goes.

I developed gallstones at 24 weeks and was initially told that my diet would be a trial and error to see what irritated my gallbladder. That was until I went into the hospital for pre-term contractions 3 separate times. Then I was put on a strict 30 grams a fat per day diet and was put on medication to stop the contractions. It was horrible. They have probably told you that they want you to remove your gallbladder as soon as you can after your 6 week check-up. I would wait a few months after delivery if you plan on breastfeeding. I had my gallbladder removed this past monday and my baby will be 8 weeks old on tuesday. It's the worst feeling possible the first few days knowing that you can't feed and hold your baby since you are in pain and baby isn't liking the bottled breast milk..

Try not to stress about the testing. I have a friend that failed her 3 hour testing and she was able to manage pretty well.. You won't necessarily have to give up more foods. You may just need to look at what you are currently eating and eat more or less of certain things...
