fetal heart rates and gender?

My first son's was 140s and 150s most of my pregnancy. Now I am having another boy and his has been anywhere from 130 to 160s! So, I think it is probably impossible to tell based soley on the heart rate. Lol. :)

Hi my name is Tamar and I am 3months pregnant and my baby's heart rate 178 beat per min. I was also told that higher heart rate means a girl.

Well....do I have egg on my face (kind of). Went for ultrasound on Sunday afternoon and low and behold...........we're have a boy. Heart rate was still in the 130's. First grandson on my side (after 5 grand daughters)!! Hubby is way more excited than he's letting on (but I can tell). Oldest daughter was disappointed....said boys are brats - LOL (good girl...keep that attitude until you're 25!! ha ha ha!!). The 11 month old didn't have an opinion.....just continued to eat the buckle on her car seat. LOL



I still don't believe the "myth" about determining gender based off of heart rate. However, I did read an interesting article recently about a study that was done in B.C. (if I recall). There is a good determination VERY early in the pregnancy (before genitals are developed) on gender based off of what side the placenta is on. Hmmmmmm.....

I've heard the same except anything under 140 was meant to be a boy...I honestly don't believe it and have read many stories where it is proven wrong but it's funny to hear all the old wives' tales...I'm currently having twins and both of them have always been on the low 140 end of the scale but we've been told that they're both girls : )

Also....I'm 26 weeks pg now & I have another u/s this Sunday so we'll find out for sure then .... that it's another GIRL (sorry but I'm betting $$$ on this LOL!!).

I can't recall the heart rate of my first daughter but my second daughter's heart rate was on the lower side. OB was CERTAIN that SHE was going to a boy. LOL I think her rate was in the 130's. Was at the OB's a couple of days ago and baby was moving around just before Dr put the "thingy" on my stomach (sorry....baby brain...can't think of proper term for the device but we all know what I'm talking about) and the rate was at 140 and then started to drop into the mid-130's. I'm thinking the baby will be another girl based off of my husband's track record of making girls. LOL I have to admit that we are REALLY rooting for a boy because he has 3 daughters (1 from previous relationship), and my sister has 3 girls and my mom has 2 girls and he's the only male in the immediate family. He's overwhelmed by estrogen. We tried the male dog thing but couldn't keep him due to allergies to dogs we unaware that the oldest has (she'd never really been dogs for long periods like this). So, he spends ALL of his free time in the garage. LOL I do feel bad for him but...... the main and most important thing is, always, that the baby is healthy and happy.

With both of my sons the heart rate was 160. Im pregnant again and the heart rate is 156 so I guess its just a waiting game lol to early to tell the sex yet!

Wow I'm 7 weeks now and the heart rate is 143bpm. I have a son already so hoping for a girl this time around! With my son at 6 weeks it was 137bpm and then at 18 weeks 144bpm.

My daughter has had the heart rate of a boy was always in the range of a boys so I don't know if I believe that. This one so far has a heart rate of a boy too so we will see.

The baby I'm carrying now the heartbeat was 162 @ 8 weeks..At 18 weeks it was in the 150's And I'm carrying a girl. But I've heard bout the myth not being right all the time..Just right with me lol

i've heard that 140+ is a girl but that can only be applied if you are less than 9 1/2 weeks....mine was 143 at week 7

mine was 150 and im having a boy. I think theats just a myth, but i heard it was the other way around lol. All my boys have been over 145 though.

Maybe we have the myth mixed up....Just wondering...we just found out new baby (the HR of 145) is a Girl! And as I posted above, the boy's was in the 170's...looking at the other posts on here, I would say lets flip it and see if we're right...lol

My sons heart rate was 160 every visit they said "oh fast must be a girl BUT he was a boy lol im pregnant with our second so it will be funny to see if they get it wrong again.

Im due in 4 days. The scan says boy! and everything myth says girl lol i think its a boy evan though i couldnt see it on the scan, the lady that did the scan says its def a boy so i take it as that. will let u knw if scan was wrong lol.

Not a good idea to go by that. My son's HR was 174-177 the whole pregnancy, new baby's HR is 145, I will hopefully find out baby's gender in about 2 weeks.

with my first his heart rate was in the 160, my second son was around 157 and now we are having a girl and her heart rate has always been around the 130 and 140 range

Don't believe that myth...my son's heart rate was always in the 150s and 160s (even my L&D nurse thought I was having a girl) and now I am pregnant with a girl and hers so far has always been in the 130s!!

Until we had our sonogram I thought we were having a girl too... fast heartbeat, bad morning sickness (had both those with my girls and not my other boy...) but the sono tells no lies, it was extremely obvious I was having an Adam and not an Annabelle! I could see it before the tech even pointed it out.



I guess every pregnancy/baby is different. Don't bank it all on the heartbeat!!!

I am pregnant and was wondering if this was going to be true for me this time too. Last time it was right for my daughter and I vaguely remember it being right for my son. When I was 6 weeks this time it was 162, then was 145 & 146, so really no indication of being higher or lower at that point. I was banking on the higher one leading me in the right direction. We are having a girl!! Just found out last week. Very excited!

That is just a myth, don't believe it. The heart rate of my baby was 168 the first time I heard it and just found out yesterday that it's a boy. Everything I looked at said that my baby would be a girl and all of them were wrong. Just go with your gut feeling. The first dream I had about the baby's gender was that it was a boy, that's the only I would go by if I was you...

Hi. I'm expecting my second child in October. My first child is a girl and her heartrate was consistent with the myth but my second child is a boy and his heartrate has ranged from 146 - 162. I thought for sure he was a girl because everyone told me the same myth but the ultrasound proved otherwise lol.

yeah...don't know if that's a good indicator. Don't remeber what the numbers are but the doctor was 90% my first one was to be a boy because of the heart beat. No....he was wrong. Same with the others. Wrong on them too. Crazy, I know.

I do not remember much about the heart rates of my boys. I *think* my first was in the 130's. When I had my daughter her heart rate was always in the 150's & low 160's. My friend just had a baby and heart rate was always in the 130's and she had a girl. So, it didn't work out for her according to the myth. I'm hoping it works for me again, last appointment it was 157. I'm hoping for a girl.

My babies heart rate varies between 147 to 156 and it is a girl. However, doctor's told my mom that she was having a boy since the heart rate was under 140, but then my sister was born. I read that some of the most recent studies don't show a connection between heart rate and gender, but it is fun to try and guess.
